The Beauteous Colour Green
The Beauteous Colour Green
I skied my way through the majestic Alps,
Their frozen beauty left me cold.
I sweat my way through the deserts of Sahara,
The barren landscape did not fill my heart with warmth.
And then I made my way back to my own country,
And nature enfolded me in all its green glory.
From the Ghats in the West to the mangroves in the East,
Was a landscape of greenery for my eyes to feast.
A sense of peace settled over my being,
Under the towering pine trees of the North.
A soothing breeze blew my cares away,
As I reposed beneath the swaying palms of the South.
Verdant fields of rice, millet, and paddy,
Gladdened my soul and fulfilled every basic need.
Plantations bursting with tea and coffee,
Were a carpet of green beneath my feet.
Every place that my eyes beheld,
Was the green of my flag, in nature’s divine bounty.
Drenched in its beauty, I thanked my God,
Who had filled my country, with prosperity and plenty.
