Families like marriages, are made in heaven,

You are born with baggage already in place.

Sometimes you feel like tweaking it a bit,

Editing it if possible to your taste.

Family is what you can own

Without spending a single dime,

A bit of love and some discipline,

Is all you pay from time to time.

Family means love and devotion,

It stands for care and support,

However bad the situation,

A promise to assist and prop.

Family is meant to be a safe haven

In this wretched, capricious world,

A heaven on earth if there was one,

Where in a warm embrace, you're curled.

When families become disjointed

Partners estranged, marriages broken,

It is hard on the innocent children

Their lives are never the same again.

You cannot choose your family,

It is so rightly said,

But anyone who keeps you happy

Can be as good, always on your side.
