Dear Soldier
Dear Soldier
Let's me be honest with you
As much as we respect and love you
We don't think of you in our daily lives
We are busy fighting our so-called demons
That we fail to recognise your dedication
Other than during a few national occasions and news
We pretty much go on with our lives
Though we are exceedingly grateful to you
We never really say or appreciate it aloud
But you don't care or worry about it
You do not protect us for awards and accolades
You do it out of your sense of responsibility
You do it because of your wholehearted love for your country
You silently do your job without so much noise
You are the reason we walk freely on the streets
You are the reason we go on with our lives
We might not express it well enough
But we feel safe because of you
We might not think of you every day
But when we do
You fill our hearts with attention and devotion
We don't know your names and faces
But you are a father, brother and a guardian
All rolled into one
Silently protecting us, with no expectation
