CLASS OF 80

Reunions are fun, especially the ones held many years after,

Like our school’s 40th was fun, frolic and laughter!

Bag full of surprises it was for all of us no doubt,

Expanding girths and mature looks peppered the group throughout.

 

Recognising each other by the name tags hanging from our necks,

Shouts of mirth filled the air as everyone checked and double-checked!

In the years down the road, we had all changed quite a bit,

But the camaraderie between us was still very close knit.

 

Now all these peripherals just melted in the air,

As everyone regressed to being school goers once again!

Long forgotten teachers’ names and their nicknames,

Had all talking at once to be heard and their story reclaim.

 

Slowly as the evening progressed and drinks were downed, 

It was as if the interim years had vanished and we were in our school compound.

Conversation flowed smoothly from where we had left off,

The growing up years were conveniently forgotten and to the school days, our hats were doffed.

 

Everyone had a tale to share and recount with glee,

With deep seated nostalgia, the night rang with voices carefree.

Mothers and Fathers, we may be to our families,

But here we were rid of these responsibilities filled formalities.

 

Old school romances were rekindled that one evening,

The magic in the air dissolved all logic and reasoning;

Friendships too took off from where they were left,

Bonds renewed for life and we all looked forward to our next milestone-the golden 50th!
