Of Winks and Whispers
Of Winks and Whispers
Today when I look back,
I can't help but wonder;
Would I have been able to crack,
The mother-daughter bond, with all my blunders!
Mercifully, just in time,
I learnt to be a parent who 'listens';
Became their partner in 'crime';
In all their quirky and adventurous missions!
Now my daughters and I'
Have an unsaid understanding;
I don't in their life choices pry,
Which has undeniably strengthened our bonding!
With silver in my hair coming to fore,
Understanding and wisdom have found an encore;
I am forever grateful for backtracking just in time,
And empathising with their concerns when they reached their prime!
Though sometimes prickly, daughters are very dear,
With their vivaciousness, they bring so much cheer!
My dexterous moves and diplomacy have been richly rewarded,
Finally, they have let down their barriers and are no longer so guarded!
