Being Parents

Expecting parents are in a happy space,

The reward is a boon when you finish the race!

The cries of your newborn are a treat to the ears,

The eyes of the parents glisten with happy tears!

Nine months of expecting does take its toll,

But all is forgotten when you see the tiny little soul!

All the anxiety and fear fly out of the window,

As you peer onto a face that is your shadow!

Nothing beats the pleasure of seeing your offspring,

And a satisfying smile emerges when her fingers to yours cling!

Her gurgling and blurbing melt you with love,

You are to your astonishment, transformed into a cooing dove!

To see her sleep without any worry,

Makes you forget the nights weary!

To see the happy expression on her face after the feed,

It makes you forget the pesky nappy changes, guaranteed!

A child fulfils you as no other,

A new maturity in you is now ushered!

You are responsible for this tiny little being’s nurture and care,

On you as a parent, it depends on her entire welfare!
