A Tale Of Horror
A Tale Of Horror
The forest was suffused with diabolical horror, which clutched me tight with fright,
It made my hands cold and clammy-- impending evil foreboding, in the eerie night.
It paralyzed my trembling numb limbs into inaction, and in the hottest night I froze,
Fear, spine-chilling fear, clutched me, and then imperceptibly my blood pressure rose.
The wind howled and shrieked, it hissed, grunted, and made a loud long wailing sound,
As if a helpless damsel had been brutally lashed, and mercilessly pinned to the ground.
I saw formless figures floating flimsily, flapping, flying, frolicking freely in the fetid air,
The stench of burning flesh, and foul decomposing carcass, suffused the atmosphere.
I saw grotesque entities materialize with spiky tails, bloody talons and twisted beaks,
Which were not beasts, birds, or humans, but some weird, bizarre creatures --‘freaks.’
I saw no more, or could not, for a blurred mantle covered my unseeing eyes with fright,
And then my heart stopped beating, having witnessed the horror-filled, gruesome sight.
