My Mysterious Friend
My Mysterious Friend

I had a friend very close to me, for whom I had greatly cared
As he was in great trouble, all his problems I invariably shared.
I had been filled with compassion for him, as he was in tears.
He had been my invisible, intimate friend for two long years.
Once whilst having lunch, food was mysteriously becoming less,
I was puzzled when somebody said “Help me, I am in a mess”.
I looked to see who was sharing my lunch, but no one I could see,
All I saw was an insect flying, was it a buzzing bumble bee?
I heard the voice again, “Years back I had committed suicide,
By cutting off my life’s span, I did not with God’s plan abide,
&
nbsp;I have to spend the remaining of my destined years-- floating,
With no body, no home, friendless, in restlessness, regretting.
If a mortal agrees to add on my “cut-off” life span to his years,
I will be granted absolution, to mingle with my departed peers
I will in my turn help him in all his daily requirements and need,
For all eternity, we would be friends, and true partners indeed.
I promised that I would not let him suffer the ordeal anymore.
His life would me mine, I 'd live his span of years, twenty-four,
From that day he left my side and I did not hear his voice again.
I thought he would communicate, but my hopes were in vain!
