That Subnivean Couloir
That Subnivean Couloir
Melodies of yearning, the bridleway crooned.
Yet another time.
Snow buntings skindered.
Gleaming, the ivory silk laid, trodden.
Descending stars from the winter sky.
Embraced the blemishes the snowflakes harboured.
Tyrannized crystals, the impressions howled.
The hoof had scarred the ornate motifs.
Bird of passage, zealous as he was,
Ambled, savouring every instant of the course.
The wayfarer espied, not anymore.
An erstwhile romance.
Polaris, afar,
Burying fervour within,
Guided the barren heart.
Shared its strength and truth.
The feathery aisle with lost elysium.
Echoes of minutes foregone.
A distant land, the wanderer sauntered.
Autumn wear crumbled, the hoofs marched.
Traces of the two in the woods.
