Serene
Serene
Last night I saw her clearly
draped in red-bordered saree
Shanka Pola white and red
bangles on her hands moving
Vermillion streak in her parting
and on her forehead "sindurer teep"
Resembling Ma Durga visiting
always looking prim and neat
a force to reckon with.
She called out "lunch is ready
come soon, before it turns cold"
She had made her signature
"Macher Jhol", "Aloo Posto"
"tomato chutney with Aamsottor"
Meal she cooked painstakingly
stirring "karais" and "dekchis"
till satisfied right consistency
had reached.
She's there frozen in my dreams
Unforgettable, her memories
Over a decade gone her ashes
I immersed in the river Cauvery
Her void is like an unhealed
wound still festering
Her love spread like a sheet
Tightly tucked in and tied
over with my heart strings
Ma never left, she's still
watching over me!
Her beauty is seen in
my surroundings.
