The Wedding Present

Rita and Shyam broke up! 

The message spread over the entire school like wild fire. While all were thrilled by this, The Mickey and Minnie who stood hanging on the wall of the library was shocked to death. 

Rita and Shyam were classmates first std. They fell in love at 8th std. Both of them never expressed. They kept it to themselves with the fear of friendship being broken when expressed love was denied. They never showed love and sometime when the show up, their friends would comment and they cover it with the meaning of true friendship. They were tagged Mickey and Minnie, and were made fun of all the time. Years passed they never expressed until once when Rita met with an accident during 9th Std and broke her leg. Sleepless nights and heavy heart, Shyam came to see her at hospital and shouted at her for being so careless. After a series of mad words, all his anger turned to a loud cry and he ended up in emotional words hugging her harder. All at once, his love, he hid for years, came out and so did the importance of her in his life. At this moment Rita too cried hugging him. Their parents looked up with silence as not to make Rita suffer more. The family of Rita and Shyam were family friends. The father of Rita and Shyam were colleagues. This made their relation brought a crack between the two families. 

Years passed. They too loved even when their parents restricted. The two families stayed away from each other. It was during the 12th Std, they both had an argument when Rita wanted to go for a trip with her friends and shyam denied it. This turned into a heated argument and both of them stopped talking to each other. It became worse, when she went to that trip with her friends. 

Ego grew in their hearts. Adulthood started to play the same drama that had happened in any other love stories. Silence was the answer that had for days, and after a month, phone numbers blocked, and years after, their love no where to be seen. 

Days passed. Rita's parents started to search for a groom. They were never sure whether Rita was in a relationship with Shyam for she never spoke about him to them since one year. Now, the dolls Mickey and Minnie heard the two librarians gossip about this and the two dolls rose from their seat. They eloped that night with the magic spell of the old book kept at the last rack of the historical books. Mickey and Minnie made a plan. Mickey went to Rita's house and Minnie went to Shyam's house. They laid in front of the door wrapped in a box with cover tagged 'My love'. It was 3 am and Shyam was awake as he was feeling empty. He heard the door knock thrice and was scared. He reached the door and opened it slightly. He saw this gift and looked over and he found no one on the street. He took the gift opened it and saw. On seeing the 'Minnie', he busted into tears and cried. Now, his cheeks turned red.

There Rita woke up all of a sudden and sat on her bed. She then got up from her bed and reached the window. There she saw the gift, unwrapped it and she had a loud cry. The screamed and ran to see The Moon. Her eyes stood frozen on The Moon, and suddenly when she looked down, there she saw Stan standing with The gift 'Minnie'. 

Now, they both ran into each other's arms and had the tightest hug. It's been years, he said. 

It's been a decade, she said hugging him back. 

Now, rain poured with their meet. 

Now, they both made their families agree and stood for marriage. 

As they exchanged rings, he said the oath, 'I, therefore, agree to be her Mickey. 

And she said,' I promise to be his forever Minnie!'

They exchanged their hearts with promises and true happiness. 

At the end of the wedding day, as they reached home, they found one gift kept in their bedroom. They both opened it together. It was a great surprise. 

It was a gift with a letter, they saw the same Mickey and Minnie in that box. They wished them a happy Married life and wrote at the end,
