The Great Disco Sneeze of 2026

Leo was the kind of kid who loved garage sales. He usually bought old comic books or broken remote-control cars, but today he found something truly weird: The Funky-Phone 3000. It looked like a regular old telephone from the 1970s, but it was bright neon orange and smelled like fake grapes.

"Whatever you do," the old lady at the garage sale warned, "don't press the star button while you’re eating cheese."

Leo didn’t listen. As soon as he got home, he sat on his bed with a plate of extra-stinky cheddar crackers and pressed the star button.

Immediately, the room started to shake. A disco ball dropped out of his ceiling fan. His pet hamster, Sir Squeaks-a-Lot, started doing the moonwalk across his cage. But the weirdest part? Leo felt a sneeze coming on.

"AH... AH... CHOO!"

When Leo sneezed, it wasn't a normal sound. It sounded like a loud trumpet blast followed by a funky bass guitar riff. And instead of germs, a cloud of sparkling glitter shot out of his nose.

Every time he sneezed, the music got louder. His bed started to bounce to the beat. His desk chair began spinning in circles. Even his math homework started dancing, the numbers sliding off the page to form a tiny conga line.

"I have to stop this!" Leo shouted, but his voice sounded like he was talking through a robot voice-changer.

He tried to find the "Off" switch, but every time he moved, his sneakers made squeaky drum-machine sounds. Squeak-thump-clap! Squeak-thump-clap! He was a walking one-man band, and he couldn't stop dancing.

His mom knocked on the door. "Leo? Why is there a laser light show coming from under your door?"

Leo panicked. He didn't want to explain why the hamster was wearing tiny sunglasses and doing the hustle. He grabbed a glass of water and splashed it on the Funky-Phone.

ZAP! CRACKLE! The disco ball vanished. The hamster fell over. The room went silent. Leo took a deep breath and realized the glitter was gone. He was normal again. But then, he looked down at his crackers. He took one tiny bite of cheese, and his left ear started playing a tiny saxophone solo.

"Uh oh," Leo whispered. "This is going to be a long weekend."
