The Family Outing
The Family Outing
Papa was busy spoiling his vocal chords while teaching students, mamma humming songs she couldn't recall and exercising and my sister and I concentrating on learning answers in our Hindi textbooks blindly. That one day, was a busy, which was a normal one.
Papa returned home at ten in the evening. We were all in our pajyamas when we started gulping Pyaaz Paranthas with lemon chutney which was our dinner in continuous silence. Mamma broke the silence and said, 'I really wanna watch that new movie in theatre- which one- Saand Ki Taang.' 'Saand Ki Aankh.' I corrected her.
Papa exclaimed, 'You should told me earlier. Get ready, we are going to watch it now.' 'Oh papa. Tell me you are joking.' said my sister. 'Beta, I am not. Plus, it's been ages since a family outing!'
We got ready- or not as we decided to go in our PJs for the very first time. And yes, it was awkward roaming in night suits, but I must say, it was comfortable as cool air could come inside.

We were so caught up in excitement that we forgot that tickets are also needed in order to watch a movie in the theatre. We realised it as soon as we reached the mall. Luckily, there were tickets left, and seats vacant. But we surely knew that it wouldn't be repeated again as all of us were reading Hunaman Chalisa before buying tickets because we did not want to miss the movie.
We bought our tickets and sat onto our seats. We didn't even realise that an hour had passed. My feet were asleep as I was stuck at a position while watching the movie.
It was the Intermission. We knew what we had to get- Classic Salted Popcorn- our usual.
The movie got over within an hour after the intermission and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The movie was worth our energy and time. We got into our car and talked and talked. After so much time, it seemed like a FAMILY outing.
This was the best one I could remember- even if I couldn't express it to you in words.
