"I am done with you keeping the book space!!!" Flora yelled.
"You are not the boss of me!" I yelled back.
She is an extremely irritating case of 'my space' disease.
Well, not exactly a disease but you know, 'I want it exactly like that and exactly in that place!' kind of attitude.
She is a medical student gone crazy studying the complicated systems inside our bodies!! Yeahh no one else except me can taunt her like this.. being her sister has its own benefits.
According to Mom, we fought like Tom and Jerry. I don't believe that because there is no way she would be as cute as them... although I am pretty cute.
We had a common bookshelf in our room. Well, just for namesake, 'Our' bookshelf was filled with study materials, I hardly had any space left for my novels. Textbooks, digests, question papers, memos; you name it and our ever tolerant bookshelf would have it!
We both always kept bickering on who needs the shelf more throwing valid (most of the times) reasons for the same. I am telling you, the lawyers of the would need to pack their bags when they see us arguing. This was a part and parcel of our lives and our parents had almost learned to ignore it.
' Ignorance is bliss' Dad always used to quote when we both ranted to him.
Her MBBS came to an end and so did our fights about the bookshelf. I didn't realize how the bookshelf now was full of just my novels as if they had been there forever.
This happened gradually, but I never noticed. I never noticed she had been interning 24*7 now.
I missed our fights. I never thought I would feel that way but I missed them so much, I recollected that whenever we came to a conclusion logical or illogical, we laughed for some silly reason and hung around.
Those moments felt distant.
The next week when I reached out to my favourite Ruskin Bond novel I saw her massive textbooks again with the notes, digests and research papers!!! All her master's degree materials in my shelf!!!
"Who in the world gave you the permission to do that Miss weirdo, Dr. Flora??"
"You are not the boss of me!" Flora yelled back.
