Sweet October Wind

Sweet October Wind

The wind was blowing as she stood on the balcony of her house, a house filled with love and warmth. Her hand on her cheek as she rested her elbow on the railing, letting the breeze kiss her hair, her eyes, her cheeks, a privilege, one that was only bestowed upon her husband. Her husband, an almost serene smile graced her lips when she thought of him. How far had they come? From hiding handwritten, sweet love notes in each other’s school bags to hiding those handwritten, sweet love notes in their daughter's bag. It was in this very same October wind, he had proposed to her, after taking her for a ride on his bike, one she both adored and despised. She almost giggled out loud as the scene played behind her closed eyelids, him on his knee, her covering her mouth, both of their hair windswept as tears trailed down their cheeks. What a perfect moment it was! He, ungracefully, slid the ring onto her finger as he asked her to spend an eternity with him.

How she had jumped at him and they kiss, it was oh so sweet! Their love hadn't lessened in all the years they have been together. Her sigh was of pure contentment when a pair of arms wrapped around her waist as a warm set of lips touched her neck. He didn't say anything, neither did she, both of them lost in a moment together as if watching it playing on a screen. Then a gentle graze of his lips on her cheek and she understood. She followed his warmth, into the kitchen, as he started making her a hot chocolate, an angelic voice called out, "Mom, Dad, are you making hot chocolate?"
