Long Hiatus
Long Hiatus
I took my mobile again and routinely opened the Howzatt App. No new message still. The time was 3:33. Last time I checked it was 2:57. Still no new message. I looked at the message sent by me.
“Hello, How are you?” – 10:23 am.
The grey ticks had not turned blue. He still has not read my messages. What’s he doing for so long? Did he not have a lunch break too? How can a person not check his mobile for 4 hours? Or does he not want to talk to me anymore? This thought triggered a ripple effect in my brain. All the cells started giving their own interpretations of the situation.
“Perhaps he is now busy with his girlfriend”.
“No no, I think his boss has fired him from his job.”
“That is impossible, he is so hard-working and such a star performer! Probably he has taken ill.”
And so the voices continued. It was difficult for me to concentrate and listen to one.
“Stop!” I shouted. ”Whatever it is, he will respond back,” I told the cells. I told myself. I checked the previous messages. The last chat was almost 1 month old. Has he forgotten me already? Am I nobody in his life anymore? Does he not care about me anymore? The cells in my brain had taken over once again!
“Ting Ting”, the mobile beeped. I grabbed it lightning-fast and jumped to Howzatt.
Yes, the message was from him. There was a broad smile on my lips. Finally! All the cells in my brain also smiled with me! “Read the message now”, they all told me.
“Good morning mumma, I am good obviously! We just spoke before I slept last night, remember? Have you forgotten I am in New York now?! OR are you worried because you spoke to me last night after a month of my Atlantic expedition? Don't worry mommy. I am fine. I will be home next month, ok? Please take care of yourself. I now have to get ready for office. Will call you later at night. Have a good day. ”
