“Marriages are union of two souls, I believe. Although I have attended a few of them I could guess the hard labor of the family members, especially that of the father and the mother.

Several guests comes, attends, enjoys the party, bless the bride and the bridegroom but eventually all of them leaves the place leaving the family alone, isn’t it mummy".

“Wow, my dear philosopher son from where you have learnt all these lectures? My little Bishal have grown up. But today I don't have time to listen to your lectures dear; don’t you think we have lots of tasks to do, we can discuss the matter afterwards”, tying a top knot in the hairs and arranging them Ramyani stared at the big campus and took some deep breaths.

Though the entire campus was empty now but traces indicate that a grand party was arranged the last night. The beautiful garlands at regular intervals and the design of the hall show evidence of a marriage party the previous night.

India is a land of varied cultures. Marriages are arranged in different ways here. Ramyani belongs to a Brahmin family where daughters are given away by the father, voluntarily holding hands near the fire to signify union of two individuals as spouses, and is recognized by livable continuity.

“Good morning Mam, we have come to take the pending amount”. One of two men entered the campus putting a fake smile.

Ramyani was too tired to give a proper response. It was her daughter's marriage. For the last few months she couldn't even sleep properly as she was busy in inviting all the guests and marketing in the malls.

“Will you mind if I pay it tomorrow; you can see all the chairs and tables scattered here and there in the campus. Moreover the house needs to be arranged properly once again. I forgot where I kept the keys of my almirah without which I can’t get my ATM and bank passbook. I hope you understood” completing the ceaseless talk, Ramyani gave a confusing smile and took a long breath.

The two men looked at each other and after a short pause one of them confided her, “It’s okay Mam, you’re our regular customer. Whenever you feel comfortable, give us a call, we’ll come to collect the money".

The two men left and Ramyani took a deep sigh of relief. She couldn’t recall where she kept the keys. In fact, it takes time to adjust the grief after one’s daughter is given away in marriage but in this house the mother didn’t have time even to shed a drop of tears. She became the queen, the watchman, the manager and everything she could be in the temporary topsy turvy land.

“Bishal….Bishal, call your Papa…” she shouted furiously as if Bishal was the root cause of all the problems. This is the common nature of humans to act smartly or furiously when something wrong happens from their side. It has bipolar effect; first, no-one suspects them; second, the problem gets solved sooner or later.

“What happened, you looked so tensed! Are you still sad? Don’t worry even if this was an arranged marriage, our daughter will live happily. We have known Divyangsh for the last three years; he is a good boy and belongs to a reputed family".

Although the words are put forward to make her tension, it rouses her temper to the extremes.

“Arey Shiva, why don’t you understand, the keys are not in the usual place. How will we make the payment to the catering party and the other unpaid payments”.

Shiva stared at Ramyani for some time and gave a smile. “Darling, do you remember, these days where was the usual place of the keys..... It was your waist bag. I' m not saying that you lost them. Don’t worry, I will manage. You go inside and arrange the house. Let me call Arun and ask for some money”. Shiva's words hit the target's bullseye. Ramyani caught an ear with one hand put a smile of regret.

“Sorry, I was too tired these days; I suppose I’ve lost the keys”.

Giving a smile once again and nodding his head, Shiva became busy arranging things and managing everyone asking them to come the next day all that came for the pending payments. By the time, Arun entered the campus and Shiva took a deep sigh of relief. Already accustomed with the prevailing situation and without asking anything he started talking in a slow and relaxed tone.

“Today, as per my calculations, you’ll not recover the lost keys. It will be better if you complete all the pending payments, arrange the campus and the house. Take some rest, cry a bit recalling your daughter if you want and then search for the keys with a relaxed mind. If you still fail, then no problem, there is a solution”.

Shiva was listening minutely as Arun lectured as a professional detective.

“What is the solution”, Shiva asked curiously.

“The ultimate solution, Break The Lock”, was Arun's humorous response.

The entire campus was filled with the sounds of laughter. Meanwhile, Ramyani and Bishal joined them. After having a good breakfast, Shiva and Arun became busy in making the pending payments with the money which he brought. Ramyani and Bishal went inside the house to arrange all the rooms and beds which was disorganized at the accommodation of several guests.

The evening sun filled the sky with a different hue sluggishly welcoming the night for the day’s recline.

“Thank you Arun so much for your help. I will return your money in a day or two. Really, you appeared in the proper time. If we don’t find the keys, we’ll go with option two… break the lock”. As Shiva was talking Arun interrupted in the middle.

“Be prepared for the appearance of the keys once you break the lock. It happens; it generally happens”.

The campus was against filled with laughter bursts once again. How the day ended, how time passed Shiva and Ramyani couldn’t count. Tidying up an after marriage environment could be so adventurous, they never imagined!
