Ashley was born on October 22, 1990, in Dearborn, Michigan. She has been deaf since her birth. Her father and her grandfather loved motorcycles, so at the age of 3, Ashley was given a peewee motorbike. The 3 of them would head to the woods, each on their own motorcycle. Ashley loved these outings and started dreaming of becoming a motocross racer.
Many people told Ashley that hearing is important for motocross racing. But Ashley used her sense of touch and sight to ride her bike in races. She had many accidents. She broke her left arm, her right wrist, her right ankle, her collarbone (three times) and her two front teeth. But she always recovered and got on her bike.
Ashley is retired from racing. She started a motocross racing school. She is currently teaching how to ride a motocross bike in school.
