The Voyage

Sean was very happy when her got to know his selection for the voyage to Caribbean island. He was adventurous but also, in dilemma. He recently got married and had a responsibility of his wife. Although, his wife is an independent and understanding women. She didn’t utter any word against his selection. Though her heart ached but she believed on GOD. Everything would be good, she waved goodbye to him with this thought.

Under the sun, Patrick’s mother was getting thirstier. She never left his son in solace nor send him anywhere but today; Patrick didn’t want to understand their indications. He could not listen but his voice was better. He decided to go on voyage to meet thunderous waves of ocean and that he wished to experience before his death.

Tina was a simple college girl. Her books were his best friends and from which she discovered something new- The Voyage. Her interest and erudite in stormy waves across oceans increased day by day. When she heard about the arrival of a ship from his city, she decided to escape from her house with an excuse of one-week training sponsored by college faculty, and Nickie followed her without any reason, might be because her heart felt jealous from the scores of Tina.

Robert never mentioned it to anyone that he wanted to fulfil his father’s desire on of captain of voyage, and by dominance of his passed away father, he got the chance of leading his team. It would be his first experience as the captain and also, as the first to travel for voyage in his life.

Dark clouds were wriggling today. Heavy storms were blowing north to south. It would be a bad idea to choose the day for the voyage but they all need to follow the orders of their captain- The Robert. Robert was excited enough that he didn’t read thoroughly about the necessities in voyage. He declared the day as the best and cowards frightened from the difficulties was his exposition. Everyone accepted but some abused him under their breath and others prayed to the God for their safe journey.

Flag raised, lunch boxes packed, shirts buttoned and pants belted. Robert sat on the cliff of the ship. Tina adjusted her binoculars and Nickie was maundering around the captain to prove herself more efficient than Tina. 

Prayers got their apprise. Storm calmed. Everyone became happy. Patrick and Sean were in the map room. Patrick read the whole map and indicated Sean to rotate the wheel to the south. Ship pushed by the waves of ocean and gentle wind was aiding to move it faster. Excitedness tickling in the bellies of everyone. A new island would not only register their name in history but also, their futures would change. All their dreams would come true.

“This would be the right time!” Robert exclaimed. Everyone gathered inside the cabin of the ship. They unpacked their lunch boxes, prepared themselves for discussions about the island. Patrick could not understand their conversation but to match himself with them, he smiled for while and remained silent at other times. Sean knew sign language so he talked to him in that to make him equal to others. Tina passed her lunch boxes to him but Nickie snatched in between and offered it to Robert. Robert, an inexperienced team leader, appreciated her flattery. He decided to take her on next voyage without knowing that this voyage may estrange both of them.

Laughter was the only sound heard in the silent waves of ocean. But sky was beginning to shower its thunder over them. Wind started to flow from South to North, against their direction. Huge waves were striking on the ship, disbalancing it ends. Patrick and Sean being experienced people moved outside the cabin and held their responsibilities. Patrick placed his hands on the wheel. Sean ran to the cliff and indicated the upcoming threat. Their ship was going to split into pieces within few minutes by an island and if his five years of experience accuracy was not wrong, it was the same island they were searching for. He had smile on his face but shrank when ship turned upside from right.

Robert ordered Nickie and Tina to increase weight of the boat at right side by hanging some wheels on that side. He himself was too surprised and frightened by the situation. He stood near the cabin with its gate flung open.

Heavy weight and hard rain drops went against the desires of Tina. Hungry ocean opened its mouth and pulled her inside. She demanded help from Nickie but she was ignoring and reminding all harsh memories of the college. Tina’s pleadings were dismissed. And Nickie was pushed by a heavy tyre rolled towards her. Both of them fell in the water.

Ship started to sink in the ocean. Water was filling inside. Robert retched, Sean rotated the wheel with all his power, and Sean was measuring the shortest distance to reach the island safely.

Robert fell unconscious. Their broken reed needed to be managed by two people remaining.

Few hours later, after so many sacrifices and struggles, they reached to the island mocking at hem for losing their mates. The best moment of sitting together with the team mates had converted to graveyard. Robert, the so-called captain was swinging on the mat of death. Tina and Nickie drowned and their bodies must become the food of any animal.

Sean and Patrick thanked the god for saving them for their families but they had a great responsibility now—families of teammates.

Few hours later, they decided to arrange some medicinal herbs from the forest for Robert and their deep wounds. When they returned to their place, they found Tina and Nickie were comforting themselves and helping Robert to wake up. Their eyes gleamed up with surprise.

Luck was in their favour. Tina and Nickie being great enemies came together and supported each other. While falling in the water, Nickie got the tyre and two wooden sticks which they used to reach the island. Sometimes, it was Tina who rowed their newly formed boat while other times, Nickie pushed the boat by swimming. The girl power had made their way through harsh waves.

Robert, the captain, who leaded the voyage in his imagination had wake up from his dilapidated state. Sean became the captain of the voyage to their homeland. Not believing on Robert.

Tina and Nickie became good friends and Patrick’s confidence returned.
