Uday was a boy of fifteen and wondered the children of his age. There were many children who were successful in their careers. Some had won prestigious awards while others were nominated. He always wanted to get a hold of these.

One day, he found an opportunity waiting for him to act. He was in the market—purchasing some stationery items. There he saw a woman standing beside him, dominating over his list by hers. Uday found him helpless, so he let the woman buy her things first. He sat on the bench lying nearby and gazed at the women. His keen eyes were focused on women and their different eloquent styles.

But a decent man broke his focus. The man fulfilled his duty as a thief by digging out the money from the women’s purse. Uday was waiting for this opportunity for many days. Finally, now he could run behind the man, catch him, and get printed in the newspaper. So, he stood on his feet, ran towards the man. The man walked normally to make everything normal because, except Uday, everyone was treating him as a gentleman.

Without much effort, Uday hold the collar of his shirt by raising it at his toe and saw his face. He expected the face to be shabby and embarrassed. But he was wrong. The face was clean, adoring, and known to Uday. The person shocked him. He was his real uncle.

“What are you doing here, Uday? You must be at home,” his uncle asked him gently without knowing that he knew his reality.

“I saw you there with the lady,” he was very much upset because his chance of getting printed, holding awards were runoff. But his curiosity was raised to a higher level than his uncle was a rich person and do not need to live on the stolen money.

He asked his uncle to go to a café where he could discuss his doubt. His uncle didn’t resist.

When both of them settled in the café comfortably, he asked him about the robbery. The smile on his uncle’s face flushed. He looked shabby, upset, and embarrassed. He never wanted his family to know his real condition him.

He looked at Uday and decided to convince him not to share the news with others if he told the truth. Uday hesitated. He wanted awards. But let his uncle continue first.

His uncle was suffering from kleptomania—the habit of stealing money when he did not want it. He was a rich man but his nerves changed his mood and stole the money.

The glass of dreams of Uday shattered. The opportunity came and went away.

His habit was slowly deceased by the doctors’ ailment and he became the hero of his uncle in silence
