A Girl’s Wish…

On her 17th birthday…

Her strict dad softly asked her, “What do you want on your birthday Noor? Any wish?”

She hesitantly told him, “Abbu, what I want something which you will never give me…”

Dad‘s facial expression turned inflame, he tried to control his tone, “What is it that your Abbu can’t give you? Huh? Look at me and speak up…”

She took long pause to muster up her all guts, and then expressed her inner affliction, “Abbu I want only one thing from you and Ammi…” she shifted her gaze on her mom and said, “…give me my right to make my own decision in my life. I promise to you and Allah that I will never ever let you be ashamed of me. I want to give my life a space to grow my inner self, and Abbu, only you can give me that space. Please Abbu give me my right that’s all I want from you. I will never ask you for more… that’s my birthday wish…”

She took deep breath and wiped her tears. She was quivering inside to know that how her dad will respond…

His feet slowly marched towards her mom….
