Warrior on Elephant

It was time to protect his land and people

From the barbarians who considered his subjects to be feeble

The prince mounted his favourite elephant

Who was considered very intelligent.

He had a legacy to live up to

Protect his own ego too

His ancestors were looking at him from heaven

He was the man who was driven.

The prince led from the front

It was not a normal hunt

The enemy was strong and well-entrenched

Today was earth’s day to get blood-drenched.

The army followed close behind

It was prepared for a long grind

The ensuing fight was but a trailer

For the soldiers to show valour.

A prolonged and bloody struggle awaited the community

To shed the cloak of servility

Days, months, years, and centuries passed

Before slavery to outside forces became past.
