Traits Of Nature

'Tis in the nature of the tiny bee to sting,

On its hapless prey a cheetah will spring ;

As cunning as the fox, as nimble as the hare,

As timid as the deer, as mild as the mare ;

Often I wonder - if a peacock really proud?

Why is a lion so strong and its roar so loud?

Is a pig truly pompous, is the sloth so lazy?

A rabbit so shy, a dog so loyal, a coot so crazy?

Each to its own nature, so run my thoughts -

For can a leopard ever change its spots?

Each creature to its own nature stays true ...

And that should include both me and you!
