THE GREATEST WINNER
THE GREATEST WINNER
There once lived a good man in less recent times
Who was well endowed with dollars and dimes ;
Tho' his age was advanced and he was getting old
In his youthful and glowing heart he was all gold ;
He gave his big, sprawling house to one brother
And his many acres of lush land to the other...
They were both in dire need of property and pelf -
And he helped them without any thought of self.
But then when he was sick and needed aid
They turned their base backs on him and said -
"If you were such a fool as to give us your all,
Why do you now expect us to answer your call ?"
And then his soul spoke to him thus - "If folk now
Deride you and call you loser, you have still won -
It's not the winning in this world - but with the Lord,
You are the greatest winner in the holy eyes of God."
