Revolution
Revolution

Pleas of food and cries of hunger,
Thundering and echoing around his house,
Neither is this the first time, nor sadly the last,
He’s helpless and knows not the remedy to be aroused
He finds himself in a rut,
Not of his own making,
The people he had chosen to follow,
Have left him and his neighbors shaking
A megalomaniac rules them now,
Consolidating power onto him,
The democracy they were promised,
Doesn’t even seem like a distant dream
People are afraid and they are desperate,
Yearning for a morsel or even a glass of water,
Scared they are of demanding their rights,
Begging they are to rid them of their torture
He walks outside, having not eaten in days,
To find solace amongst his friends,
He finds them to be snatching from and beating the ones they once called brothers,
In this ungrateful, cruel world, dignity and morality bends
Anarchy spreads like wildfire,
Consuming villages and towns and cities,
Their leader watches all from his seat of power,
Taking pleasure in the feuds of his piggies
The fight for survival turns for the worst,
When the old and the weak are targeted first,
In the age when children learn the basics of math,
Is now the age when they learn to shoot and curse
He tries his best, his absolute best,
To provide for his innocent children,
But all his efforts and then some more, aren’t enough,
To prevent them from being slashed and stricken
Within an hour, his life has lost its meaning,
Without a family the man has no ambition,
Destitute with grief and sadness,
Even tears won’t come; such is his condition
He remembers them and mourns them,
Praying religiously for death to take him away,
He must have committed sins aplenty,
Such that even his God has left him in dismay
His prayers stop soon,
And so does his anger,
He’s left with no emotions, none whatsoever,
His surroundings keep getting blanker
He notices people screaming,
But his ears pick up no noise,
His senses are now numb to the pains of others,
Suffering in silence is his only choice
Then one fine day,
when the surroundings are uncharacteristically ambient,
His eyes close to rest, his mind takes a breather,
Transporting then to a world which is transient,
Learning of his purpose there, he thanks the supreme being,
He wakes up with determination, his skin is glowing radiant
He walks forward with a confident stride and rouses one and all,
The beggars, the thieves, the weak and the powerful,
Injustice cannot remain neglected, it has to be undone,
It was time to stand together against this tyrannical rule
Cheers erupted from a few,
While most others ridiculed,
They were nothing, just like worms in the dirt,
They would be squashed beneath the boot and be easily overruled
That did not sway him,
And he followed his path,
To avenge against his own distress,
And to unsheathe his wrath
Wherever he stepped, he proclaimed his message,
And soon enough the hopeless had hope once again,
The brave followed him and the weak prayed for his success,
Uncaring of getting a beating or even being slain
He looked back only when he had reached the tyrant’s mansion,
Millions had his back and he smiled to them, crazily,
Standing against the raised armaments of his nation’s military,
He called out to the one hiding behind to leave silently
The dictator laughed haughtily,
Warning one and all to run back home,
It was his good nature and the kindness in his heart,
That they all still lived, and had not been reduced to foam
None moved and not even stirred,
He stood in front of them unfazed,
He smiled again to his opponents stepping further ahead,
And looked up, singing hymns of praise
A light shone on him, and him alone,
The sky opened up, the heavens greeted him with grace,
All looked in awe and knelt down as they realized,
That they had seen their messiah’s face
The mansion stood firm,
Though no one protected it anymore,
On further inquiry,
it was found to be vacant of the despot dictator
He who had united them,
Stood his ground smiling,
Don’t lose your faith, he said,
You never know who’s watching
With that he ascended, flowing elegantly,
Towards the heavens, which welcomed him earnestly,
The people below who had witnessed this miracle,
Thanked him with all their heart,
He had taken away their suffering,
And gifted them with a new start
