Kingdom of Gamanta (24 Nov)
Kingdom of Gamanta (24 Nov)
Lahura embraced the throne of Gamanta,
Left vacant after his father’s death,
A conqueror, he wasn’t, unlike his predecessor,
He was though a charismatic leader, a man of depth
The kingdom was ruled with an iron hand,
Oppressing the dissidents, rewarding the praisers,
Lahura changed all that, awarding meritocracy,
Sending across, amongst the charlatans, jitters
He burned holes in the pockets,
Of people venomous and two-faced,
It wasn’t a surprise, and quite expected,
When Lahura found himself backstabbed and shamefaced
For the kingdom which his father fought,
Years to conquer and control,
Lahura had been ousted and displaced,
And left with no loyalists to grieve with or condole
Exiled out from his inheritance,
He was forced to hide in places unknown,
A king he was once, the leader of many,
Now in ambiguity he could only moan and groan
His cousin now controlled the throne,
The same he had called his fondest brother,
The anger in him burned like fire,
A motivation that emotion then did usher
He went to Pundav,
An enemy old,
To form a cabal,
To gain back hold
He promised him,
The lands thus conquered,
A blood knot made,
To be adhered to and honoured
With the strength of Pundav,
And the ambitious of Gamanta,
He claimed back what was his,
Through violence, fulfilling his vendetta
Having learned his lesson to distrust everyone,
He then attacked his ally, unseemingly,
Through surprise and an undying desire,
He defeated Pundav quite thoroughly
Along with the prisoners of war,
He gathered the ones who supported him,
Burned them on holy grounds he did,
On grounds of being treacherous, he tore them from limb to limb
Kindness and a caring heart,
Are nothing but a facade,
The burden of the king’s crown is heavy,
Everything he does is only a charade
Circumstances had altered his character,
Beyond recognition, his remaining family swore,
The kind, smiling and loving Lahura,
Was affectionate no more
