Shady Memories

I stay up each night wide awake. 

 My mind in frenzy, thoughts naked. 

 Watching the moon out of my window. 

 Wishing that this insanity would stop. 

 These memories run in vicious circles. 

 Shaking my world in hideous swirls. 

My sleep was stolen, I'm searching for thieves. 

These memories in my head, are too vivid to see. 

The blood running down your skin haunts me. 

It whispers in my head, screams in my sleep. 

I remember their threats like it was yesterday. 

They run fear into my heart, my thoughts astray. 

I remember them trying to hold my flesh. 

These shady memories in mind still fresh 

They try to chase me night after night. 

My sleep is lost in this fear and fright. 

And I count sheep hoping to sleep. 

My mind is shaken and a heart weeps. 

Running from them in every way. 

Wishing to conquer them one day

I wish to embrace my monster shaped memories. 

Hoping one day I'll shout these stories 

And not be burdened by silence anymore. 

Then I might sleep, maybe even snore. 

Until then I'll keep searching for thieves. 

That hide not under my bed but my sleeves.
