I'm a shapeshifter

At Poe's masquerade

Hiding both face and mind

All free for you to draw

I am cheery, jolly and lovely. 

Eyes with oceans of melancholy. 

I talk with excitement and zeal. 

My words make stone hearts feel. 

I smile with a twinkle in my eye. 

Carrying with me cosmos and skies. 

Each person draws a different me. 

Sometimes hurtful, sometimes lovely. 

Believing biased opinions in colored lenses. 

Anything works until it suits their senses. 

They believe in whatever they see. 

Unknown to things that truly hurt me. 

Unknowing of what makes me happy.

They draw me to fill in my mysteries. 

Believing simple rumors and easy lies. 

To ease their hearts, minds, and eyes. 

I am masked in countless versions of myself. 

Some are decent docile, some filled with filth. 

And I am each one of them, yet none are me. 

I may carry melancholy, yet I'm happy. 

I don't know what defines me in their eyes. 

Whether I'm Satan's love or angel of the sky. 

And I leave this to them to discover. 

To try to draw me, know me, and uncover, 

My masks. Yet never meet the real one.
