Seas Welling Up

It seemed as though the Earth had run out of air,

And the seas welled up in my eyes.

I had been warned fair and square,

It's what it feels like to despise. 

Like trying to focus after an earthquake,

Or calm down during a fire.

Just getting used to the constant ache,

And the trash collecting your desires. 

It's hard to appreciate the idea of new possibilities,

When you're leaving the perfect past behind.

It's rather a responsibility,

And hoping it has a good fate entwined.
