Devotion Of Mother Jamuna

Devotion Of Mother Jamuna

Masands were chosen leaders

By sixth Guru from among good Sikhs

To spread his message among people

And to collect from Sikhs their offerings

And tithe for the Guru for welfare works

With the passage of time some Masands

Became corrupted and dishonest

Once such a greedy Masand was

Making collection, when an old woman came to hand over her share to reach Guru

Masand refused to take the small offering from her

She kept her poise as she knew that Prince Gobind is the mind-reading Prince. She believed that

Prince himself would appear to ask for it

She started stored whatever little she could

On his way to Chak Nanki (Anandpur Sahib)

From Patna, Prince stayed at Danapur in 1671 AD

Mother Jamuna was overjoyed to know about his stay as she had an opportunity to see him

With her eyes just in her own village Danapur

With great love and devotion

Mother Jamuna prepared hotchpotch

The mind reader of devotees came at

her doorstep and said, "Grandma,

Serve me the hotchpotch you have prepared

She happily served it to him

And also to Sikhs accompanying him

When Prince rose to take leave of her

She pleaded him to stay with her forever

He said to her, "I shall always be with you"

He further added," whenever you

Want to see me, prepare hotchpotch

And serve it to the needy people around."

Whenever you do that you would

be able to behold me right before you

All  her life mother Jamuna

kept having glimpses of the Prince

By preparing hotch potch

And serving it to the poor

Whenever She had longed to see him

At present the same earthen pot ( handi)

Which was used  by her is kept

In Gurdwara 'Handi Sahib'

It's in Awasthi ghat, Ramapur

In the state of Bihar.
