Gifts For The Guru

Who love God alone will realise him

Devotees of Guru Nanak's home,

In times of tenth Guru brought gifts 

As per his  instructions, from as far as

Afghanistan,Tibet,Central Asia wherever

Guru Nanak had been during his travels

Raja Ratan Rai, son ofRaja Ram Rai 

Of Assam came with her mother as 

He was born with the blessings of 

Ninth Guru Teg Bahadur and his father

Had decided to pay visit to him

As thanksgiving but he died

So Raja Ratan Rai came to Anandpur 

To make obeisances to the Guru with

 Many gifts . The most beautiful was

 Short statured 'Prasadi' elephant, other

Gifts were a satty, five adorned horses,

And a sophisticated five- in -one weapon

And a knife on pressing of a button

Another gift was chessboard and a cup

When pieces moved on it the water

In  a cup dried automatically after a while

Shamiana brought by Duni Chand from

Afghanistan was very precious and elegant

It was made of wool and embroidered with

Gold and silver studded with precious jewels,

Depicting the different scenery of Kabul and 

Kandahar, of star studded sky as if real

Similar shamiana had come from there 

For the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb

On the royal order and at a price

The difference was that the one for 

The Guru was a gift out of love by the

Sikhs and was much more precious
