COVID TALES (Week 13 Theme: Horror)
COVID TALES (Week 13 Theme: Horror)
The pandemic cast a horrendous pall of gloom all around,
Thoroughfares went empty; retail markets were devoid of footfall and sound
Memories of those days are still warm and can throttle us all to hound
Stories of death crossed all limits, nothing else made headlines abound.
Covid survivors are here to tell tales of woe and angst,
We had all lead lives in fear and apprehension ensconced,
Death lurked in corners and could well have us conked
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakum, the entire world had joined hands as friends.
We were losing lives as tho’ life was a plaything,
Nothing more deadly had been encountered, before or after like anything,
For more than a year, we shunned company like pestilence scathing
The virus played the deadliest game with us, itself invisible and absconding.
We did not know where or how death lurked in the corner,
We looked up at survivors as if they were of the breeds of charmer,
People around the world lived in the twilight zone, never knowing where lay the border,
The pandemic had united the entire world; we belonged to the tribe of the mourner.
