The Unspoken words

Rajesh reached the airport along with his only daughter, who had suffered from anoxia. He has to catch the flight for Delhi and admit his daughter in AIIMS. His daughter Rajshree is a B.tech engineer and was doing job in a multinational IT company ,Suddenly She fall sick and was in hospital of Hyderabad. She was in coma for 45 days and recovered. But now She needs neurological treatment to recover from the damages of nerves, which had made her to be on wheelchair. As advised by doctors Rajesh is taking her to AIIMS, Delhi. Rajesh had lost his wife 11 years back and taken care of his daughter as a single parent. Rajshree is everything for him. Both Rajesh and Rajshree boarded the flight and there was lots of anxiety with Rajesh as he has no close contacts in Delhi. But he prayed God and looked at his dear daughter Rajshree, who just gave a smile and said,’’ Relax Papa. Everything will be ok.’’ 

They landed in Delhi airport and headed for AIIMS as the appointment was taken for 3 pm. Rajesh reached with Rajshree in AIIMS at about 2.30pm and let his daughter be sited on a wheelchair and he had gone to the reception and completed all formalities. Then he returned to Rajshree and waited for their turn to come. After few minutes Rajshree’s name was announced and Rajesh took her inside the doctor’s chamber. Rajesh was completely tensed and only thinking about his daughter. The doctor gone through Rajshree’s file and asked some questions to Rajesh, but as he was very much tensed couldn’t listened it properly and said, ’sorry Madam, couldn’t listen it properly. Can you please repeat it? ’Then the doctor gave a smile and said, ’It’s ok. Let me first check her. I think you are bit tensed. Where is her mother? ’She still was smiling. Rajesh had not seen that and said,’’ She had left us for her heavenly journey since last 11 years. I am here and I assure you will take care of her.’’ By that time the nurse had helped Rajshree to be on the bed for the check-up. Doctor checked Rajshree and asked Rajesh to have city scan and some other routine tests. Then the doctor asked Rajesh,’’ What are you doing? I think you are not from Delhi. By the way what’s your name?’’ She again smiled and removed the mask from her face. Then Rajesh was completely surprised and replied,’’ I am Rajesh Prasad and an engineer working in ONGC. I am not from Delhi. Are you Sunita Mishra?’’ Then the doctor smiled and replied,’’ Yes Rajesh I am Sunita. I had recognized you, but you took so much time to recognize me. Of course, after more than 28 years we are meeting. Your daughter is very sweet. Don’t worry, she will be alright. Now we have to admit her here. I am recommending for a cabin, so that you can stay with her. Tomorrow all tests will be done and we will start the treatment. Now you go to the reception and complete the formalities. After I finish with all other patients will come to you and will discuss.’’ Rajesh nodded his head and gone to the reception and completed all formalities. Then by 5pm Rajshree was allotted a cabin. Both Rajshree and Rajesh went there and Rajesh made his daughter comfortable on the bed and relaxed on the chair. Then Rajshree asked Rajesh,’’ Papa, is the doctor known to you? Do you both know each other? ’Rajesh replied,’’ Yes, we were reading in same school and know each other. After school I was in college to do my intermediate in science and then got admitted in engineering. She was 2 years junior to me, so never met after school. You take rest and I too will relax for some time. Rajshree listened to Rajesh and tried to have a nap.

Rajesh relaxed on the chair and closed his eyes. He had gone back to his school days. Rajesh was a very good orator and used to participate in all debate competitions. He used to win first prizes. Sunita was two years junior to him and was very good in drawing. When Rajesh was in class IX, he saw Sunita in a drawing competition as he had gone there to participate in debate competition. After the competition was over all participants were leaving the venue and it started raining heavily. They waited there. There for the first time Rajesh met Sunita and both introduced each other. Being from the same school Sunita knew Rajesh and seen him taking prizes during annual functions. Sunita told Rajesh about this. After some time as rain stopped, they started leaving that place along with others. Rajesh started his scotty and heading for home and saw Sunita was walking along with other girls to catch a rikshaw. Rajesh stopped and asked her, if he can help her? As the other girls were not from their school Sunita too was not feeling ok to walk along with them. Then she thought for a moment and agreed for the lift. Rajesh dropped her near her house and left. Sunita forgot to thank him and get in to her house in a hurry. After reaching home she realized her mistake. Next day when Sunita met Rajesh in the school ,she thanked him and said sorry for not doing so yesterday. They used to meet in the school on different occasions. Unknowingly they were getting attracted to each other. On the success of Rajesh Sunita used be very excited and happy. They developed a very good bonding with each other. But they never expressed their feelings to each other. Rajesh completed his 10th examination and was the topper of the town. The day Rajesh came to school to take his certificates met Sunita. That was his last day in the school and now he will be going to the college. Sunita congratulated him on that day and presented a nice pen set to Rajesh. That day both of them were bit emotional, still couldn’t express their love for each other. Rajesh still had kept that pen set with him . Then their meeting each other became for very few times . Rajesh completed 12th and gone out of the town to study engineering. After completing engineering Rajesh returned to his home town and many times gone near to Sunita’s house to see her once, but couldn’t saw her. The he got the job and on family’s pressure married. He became father of Rajshree after 2 years of his marriage. When Rajshree was 12 years old Rajesh lost his wife and taken care of his only daughter as a single parent. He was not having any idea of meeting Sunita here. He never knew that she is a doctor. Now after so many years he met her and couldn’t recognize her voice, but she could recognize him.

Then Rajesh heard a knock on the door and woke up. He saw Sunita entered the cabin along with the nurse. She prescribed the tests to be done for Rajshree and the nurse left the room. Rajshree also woke up and gave a smile to Sunita. Then Sunita came close to Rajshree and put her hand on her head and said very affectionately,’’ you will be absolutely all right. Don’t ever think anything else. Then she looked at Rajesh and asked him,’’ how was it happened to her? ‘’Rajesh replied,’’ Now she is working in a multination IT company after her Btech . Due to work pressure and anxiety it had happened. I heard from her friends that she used to skip her lunch many a times and neglected her health. She was having asthma and that had created this problem. She was in coma and that had made her nervous system bit down resulting in to this.’’ Sunita listen to him and said,’’ She had inherited some of your qualities. Now onwards she should be careful and you too.’’ Rajshree was listening this and she told to Rajesh,’’ Papa you had not had your coffee and now can go to canteen to have this along with Doctor madam.’’ Then Sunita looked at Rajshree and said,’’ you can call me Aunty dear. If you will take rest for a while, then I can take your Papa to canteen. I will ask a nurse to be here with you.’’ Rajshree said ,’’ Yes Aunty. Thank you very much. My Papa is very much worried for me. Now I can’t do anything for him. Please help him.’’ Sunita could see the tears in Rajshree’s eyes and she consoled her and said,’’ you calm down dear. He will be ok.’’

Then Sunita and Rajesh went to the canteen and sat in a corner. Sunita asked for some snacks and two cups of coffee. Then Rajesh started,’’ I don’t know that you are a doctor and being posted here. Actually, after my engineering I came to our town and tried to meet you, but couldn’t do so.’’ Sunita replied,’’ After my 10th examination my father was transferred and went to the other town. There I completed my 12th and then my M B B S. Then I joined P G course here in AIIMS. I got married and my husband was too a doctor and passed away since last 8 years. I have a daughter, who is doing M B B S here and she is now doing horsemanship. She too will come in her round. You can meet her. But you should take care of your health. I suggest if you will allow me, then I can arrange a thorough check up for you.’’ Rajesh replied,’’ ok I can do it. What’s the name of your daughter?’’ Sunita said,’’ Her name is Jayshree. Let us now go. Rajshree may need you.’’ Then they left from the canteen. After reaching the cabin Sunita went to Rajshree and kissed on her forehead saying,’’ You sister will be with you from tomorrow onwards after her duty hours. I mean my daughter Jayshree, she is doing her horsemanship here. I will tell her about you. Now let me go home. What would you like to have in breakfast tomorrow? I will make it.’’ Rajshree was feeling a motherly affection and replied,’’ Anything you like to make. But why you will take pains for me?’’ Sunita said,’’ stop talking like that. Tomorrow breakfast for both of you will be home made. Now let me go. It’s not safe to go in late night.’’ Sunita said good night to both Rajesh and Rajshree and left.

Next day morning at about 8AM a young doctor with a tiffin carrier entered the cabin with nurse. She touched the feet of Rajesh and hold the hands of Rajshree. Nurse informed that blood and urine samples of Rajshree were taken and after her breakfast at about 10AM other tests will be made. Then she left. Then Rajesh asked the young doctor,’’ Are you Jayshree, Dr Sunita’s daughter?’’ She with a smile said,’’ yes uncle. My Mom had told me everything. After my duty I will be with Didi. After so many years I could see my Mom is very happy. For me her happiness is everything. Yes, Mom had send the breakfast for both of you. Now you take and I will help Didi to have her. Then I will go for my round.’’ Then Rajesh came close to Jayshree and put his hand on her head saying,’’ Just like mother.’’ Then he opened the tiffin box and Jayshree took the other one for Rajshree and helped Rajshree to sit straight on the bed. She opened the tiffin box and fed Rajshree with the spoon. At that moment Sunita entered. She asked Rajshree,’’ How is this dear? I am not a that bad cook.’’ Rajshree said,’’ Very tasty and I am loving it. Can I call Jayshree Jaya? ‘’ Jayshree replied,’’ Yes Didi you can. I am your younger sister.’’ Then Rajesh said,’’ It’s very tasty. After a long-time having home made food. Thanks, Sunita.’’ Both Jayshree and Rajshree looked at each other and then looked at Rajesh and Sunita as both of them were looking at each other, but unable to speak. Both the young girls could understand everything and read The Unspoken Words of Rajesh and Sunita. At the same time Rajesh and Sunita could silently understand their internal pains, their feelings and still unable to express. Their stare at each other was exposing.
