The Reminder
The Reminder
David, a hard-working Engineer at a good organisation was happily married and living comfortably in a happening City Bombay with his lovely wife and a beautiful seven-year-old daughter. He was mostly busy like any other employee, busy traveling within the City(Bombay hai bhai) and during weekends finishing his other formalities like taking his family out to dinner or a movie etc. His daughter was in second standard in a well-known school and he assumed that she was good in studies and other extracurricular activities as well.
On a Second Saturday, around 11. 39 am he got a call from his daughter's school asking him to attend the parent-teacher meeting where his daughter's marks would be shown and her report card would also be given to them. The teacher who spoke to him from the other side seemed a bit annoyed but her voice was sweet. David and his daughter Rachell dressed up quickly and rushed to the School wondering what the teacher would say about his daughter's marks and academics. He was waiting in the lounge along with his daughter who seemed to be in her playful mood as usual. David asked her to keep calm and be disciplined. Sensing his mood Rachell tried her best to look disciplined and we'll behave (!!). After about 20 minutes of waiting, they were asked to enter the teacher's cabin. David and Rachell eagerly and with tension entered the Room. David and Rachell wished the teacher and were asked to be seated. The lady teacher was looking annoyed and stern. She was beautiful grinned David. The lady teacher started the conversation by saying" Mr. David, your daughter is not at all studying well, most of the time she only wants to talk to her classmates, or she keeps running and jumping thereby disturbing the class as well. Her handwriting too is not good, it needs a lot of improvement. Now, please look at her English paper, she has failed in the Exam. Her spellings are wrong. Her handwriting is bad. Now how could I give her any marks? Then look at her Science paper she has failed in this exam too. Same is the case with her Hindi as well as her Social Science as well as Gk paper as well. You need to take strict action and control her playfulness and wasting time in playing indoor games as well as her piano classes and karate classes as well. She should be strictly admonished and asked to maintain time and discipline.
David very patiently heard all that was spoken by the teacher while reassuring his young daughter with his gentle touch and glances. He with a bit of a stern voice asked "mam, so far you have shown all papers except mathematics, can I know how many marks she got in that subject? Has she failed or passed in that Exam?". The teacher very quietly handed over the mathematics paper to David. He gave a glance at the paper and almost shouted. "Mam she has scored 💯 out of 💯. ". The lady teacher was looking sheepishly at David. Then David asked her in return, who teaches English to her? She replied it is me, What about Science mam, may i know who teaches her Science? She again replied sheepishly, it is me. David got up from his seat and said "I teach mathematics to her and she has scored cent percent in that subject. So, now you tell me mam who is a better teacher, you or me?" Saying that he started walking towards the door along with Rachell, when the teacher called out to him saying "both of you guys, I will see you at home and let us settle scores". Hope the readers have understood the matter now. The mam in question is Rachell's mother who is the teacher at School and her tuition teacher at home. Ha ha
