Team Lead

She got up from the chair and went to her team lead. “Hi….you messaged me?” she asked him. “I have checked your stats, you are lagging behind. Do you know that? And it’s already noon” he replied looking at the screen. “No, I almost completed my target, I need only 50 more points to complete” “if its today’s target it's 50, but I am talking about the week's target, you have to do 550 points more” he showed her the stats. She was surprised by looking at the screen. “I am doing my target daily how will it be 550” she raised the tone a bit. “This is your stats, I didn’t do anything,” he said with little sarcasm. “Can I check it?” she looked at him. “Ok,” he moved his chair a bit and allowed her to check the stats on the screen. “This is wrong….. I am on leave this Tuesday” she gave a tiny smile. “So” “you have calculated even on Tuesday, I was on leave that day so the stats are wrong and I need to do only 50 points,” she said confidently.

“Did you check your mail?” “I actually do, but today I didn’t,” she said slowly. “Go back to your place, check mail and come back” she looked at him with a confused face. “Go” he moved back the chair to his place. “What?” he asked her and she didn’t move an inch. “I ….” “There was a mail on Monday saying that from this week leaves are not considered” “what does that mean?” she asked immediately. “Let me finish,” he said continued “you have to complete your full week target, even if you are in leave” he kept his voice normal. “How is that possible? How can we do the target if we are in leave” she said seriously. “Then you shouldn’t take a leave or you should adjust your daily target and complete it,” he said calmly. “Then what’s the use of taking leaves if…..” she looked around and paused. “Calm down, go to your place and complete your work by end of the day” he ordered her. “How can I complete it by end of the day, only 3 hours are left” “I need to submit the report so you complete it in 3 hours or stay extra hours and complete it” his tone was clear. “Even I stay the whole night I can’t complete it” she again raised the voice. “I don’t know what you do? But I need the target to be completed” his voice was loud and commanding. “Ok” she went back to her place. She took the mobile typed a message and sat on the chair.

“What happened? Why did he call?” her friend asked immediately by looking at her face. “What’s wrong with him? Why is he behaving like he owns the company” she said seriously. “What did he say?” her friend asked again. “He asked me to stay back” she kept her face sad. “Why?” she said the whole conversation between her and the team lead. He was their batch mate. Until last week he was one of them and now he is ordering them. He just got promoted. He moved his chair back, opened the message looking at her. “Stop over reacting. I will kick you” he smiled and texted back. “You can’t kick your team lead” her phone vibrated. “But I can kick my boy friend” she replied. After 5 minutes her phone vibrated again “you can do anything you want, I am always your baby” she smiled.
