Survey Am Fine

Jai came out of the room on hearing the main door sound. “Why don’t you knock?” he asked her. “Why should I?” Shraddha carelessly answered him while closing the door. “Are you scared?” she smiled and looked at him. “Yeah I am scared of you” he said with sarcasm and went inside. “Ok, how are you?” “What?” he gave a surprising look. “Tell me, how are you?” she asked him again. “Can’t you see Shraddha” “arey tell me na” she forced him. “I am fine” he said seriously. “According to the survey…..” “Don’t tell me all that non-sense I have work to do” he interrupted her. “Listen to me this is very useful” she tried to explain to him. “Nothing is useful in your surveys you have exams from next week, go and prepare for them Shraddha” “I am preparing for them you 1^st listen to me” she went and sat beside him on the bed.

“Stop irritating me” he said by turning towards her. “I am not irritating you Jai, I am just asking you to listen to me” “I will listen later, see I have lots of work to do” he showed the laptop screen. “Every time you say this work work….. and you always stay at home” “because I work from home Shraddha” “but you…..” “shut up am not like you, I work for a company and I don’t waste time like you by browsing net and reading all the stupid surveys” he didn’t let her speak. “I don’t waste time” she said slowly. “I don’t want to argue with you” he started working on his laptop. She sat silently beside him. She didn’t even utter a word. He was observing her while working. After 10 minutes “what happened Shraddha?” “You……” her voice was inaudible. “Speak out” “you are not listening to me” she said with a sad face. He couldn’t see her sad. “Give me 10 more minutes I will complete this and will listen to you” “ok” she smiled.

Jai and Shraddha are childhood friends. She is younger than him and he treats her like a baby. They are very close to each other. She shares every single detail with him. From past few months, she got a new habit. She started reading all the surveys conducted in the world and using them on him. He patiently bears her every madness and he is bearing this. He guides her and she follows him.

“Shraddha” “is it done” she asked curiously. “No, get me some water” “when will you listen Jai” “you first go and get me water” she bought water and stood there waiting for him to complete the work. “Are you done?” she asked him when he closed the laptop. “Yeah” “in the survey….” “Wait, come and sit” she sat when he said. “You know most commonly said lie is ‘I am fine’ i.e. 90% of people lie” there was a constant excitement on her face while she was saying. “So….” He asked normally. “What so?” she said disappointingly. “I mean…..” “even you lied Jai, you are not fine but you said fine that means the survey was correct” “Shraddha.......you are gone crazy” “no I have even proved you that surveys are correct” she explained him. “Ok fine leave it” “so next time don’t lie” she held his hand while he was about to get up. “How are you?” he asked her suddenly. “I am fine” she looked at him doubtfully. “So you are lying now” “no Jai, am not, I really I …... am fine”
