The Tension

He was in the airport waiting for the cab. He was out of the town on a business meeting just for a day. He called his wife but she didn’t pick up. He was so tensed and that was clearly visible on his face. He messaged her again and there was no reply. After 15 minutes of waiting, he got into the cab. He got married just a month ago. She was new to the family and also new to the city. Due to the job, they came to his place immediately after the wedding and she didn’t get the time to meet and know his family. His family suddenly showed up when he was out of the city. He was much tensed thinking about his wife and mother. His wife, she cannot easily mingle with people, she takes time, and she is reserved and calm. On the other hand, his family is quite the opposite. They are fun and jovial. His mother was very particular about things. He has a strong feeling that he is going to be in trouble. He was thinking of his family about how to handle them and started planning. Though he was prepared to face the situation he was nervous. He reached home and pressed the calling bell with the tensed face.

“Hi bhaiya” his brother opened the door. “Hi” he went inside and looked for his wife. There were so many people in the house. His parents, siblings and other relatives, but he couldn’t find his wife. He wished everyone and went to his room in order to meet his wife. She was not there. He went out and went near the dining table. The table was filled with dishes. “bhaiya look bhabhi did all this” his brother showed all the dishes and he was so surprised. She is not a great cook but the dishes on the table telling him a different story. “Where is bhabhi” he asked his brother. “In the balcony” he immediately went there and saw his mother and wife talking. He stood there for a few seconds and “maa” when he called his mother both turned towards him. “How are you beta?” his mother came and hugged him. “I am good. How are you?” he asked his mother and looked at his wife. She looked pleasant and it gave a little relief to him, but he was still worried about his mother.

“She is new to this place beta. How can you leave her all alone?” his mother raised the voice. This time he was shocked, he was expecting a complaint from her against the wife, but she supported her. “Job maa I…..” “You can’t leave her all night beta, this is not good” “ok maa” he simply said and gave a look to his wife. She smiled a little looking at him. “Come let's go inside,” he said and they went inside. He wants to talk to his wife, thank her for listening to his mother and adjusting with his family. But he didn’t get the chance. He was tired of making trails to talk with her. At last, he sat on the couch with his brother and the cell vibrated. There was a message from her. He opened the message “you are welcome and I love you too” with a smiling emoji. His eyes searched for her and she was standing in the corner looking at him with a cute smile and he was much relieved.
