Stealing Of A Marker
Stealing Of A Marker
Today entering into the class I was in a very good mood Because I came to know that last night students made hard efforts to write a story that I gave them as their punishment. Actually it seems always good to create trouble for others and very enjoyable and is a very common person I too enjoyed that my order was obeyed. Even sometimes we share our mischief as a work of bravery, so I was the winner today and wanted to feed some more knowledge of mine which I was also not very sure that it was really workable or the time pass? But I was doing that because I had to do with the order of my line manager and of course to satisfy my ego being a teacher.
Friends my proud being a teacher was on the peak so I asked for the marker pen to use on the whiteboard in a thud voice in the classroom and everybody including two of my colleagues Krishna and Lakshmi also started searching for it here and there. IT was surprising for me that the most important thing of daily use was not there and everybody was searching for it as it was a big miss or something I asked that was precious to gold even. Suddenly I felt that Lakshmi wanted to utter something, but feeling somehow uneasy. Without any delay, I passed a smile asking was there something wrong? The answer I got that I had to ask for a marker pen from the accounts department, but still, something was unpleasant on the faces of my colleagues. Anyway, I went to the accounts and asked for a marker. This was happening at the very first time in my life that accounts were asking for the use of markers and I was explaining that I had to write something on the whiteboard so there was a need of whiteboard markers which is the part of official stationery & because we were an institute so the use of a marker was very common for me in a daily routine. They again ordered me to write a requisition and my introduction that I was the part of that program where the marker was allowed to use and I and students were really in need of. Simply I forbade writing one-page note requisition or you may think that I was disobeying the rule of Adolf Hitler and Musolini from my ideology.
The answers to the accounting department I received were that place your requisition because they are there but we have to ask from the most senior manager. I was literally gone mad that we were the employees or the slaves but said nothing. On the other hand, I saw the coolest person our bhanwarji the accountant was yelling on his assistant Madan, that why the department of accounts was taking the headache for the administrative things like the use of stationary. No doubt the class was getting late and students were waiting while my mind was also upset leaving the class.
I realized my mistake that definitely accounts department was not actually responsible for it and turned back but again Madan my colleague called me back and assured that he will arrange the pen. I thanked him for his generosity but now there was another question that who was the keeper of stationary? Because the administrative person was doing the data feeding of the district reports and had a work of providing tea and snacks to the Director and she/he will give the rest food to eat while working on the dalit dignity and exposing self as a big messiah of the deprived ones being a woman. Now I was in a mess about this new system of my new office or it can be said that I was totally lost and blank in my mind. Restlessly entering in the classroom I was thinking for the better option to use my personal sketch pens on the chart papers, till then found that Krishna having two pens in his hands appeared having a confusing smile with regretful eyes. I was thankful to Krishna but again confused that why he did not give me those markers previously and so much time was wasted, somehow disappointed with the behavior of the accounting department. I thought must talk with the seniors about such a typical structure that stationary of daily use was also in their custody and what if they were out of the office? Should the work stop? Well friends the seniors were out off for continuous four days.
On the very next day again there was the same situation because the previous two markers were dull. Anyhow, we completed our lesson. The mind and body were restless and not behaving well. It was like balancing an imbalanced personality having some mental disorders in me because my giggly wiggly brain was running fastest and the things were still out of control. Suddenly Krishna came to me asking that why I was not so easy in comparison of previous days and I shared the reason once he had hesitation but after a moment whatever he shared with me that inspired to write this incident viewing into the story- Krishna was a very loyal and honest employee of the institute but had to suffer because of the stationary especially markers. But whenever he was making a request or giving the requisition for the markers there were certain sentences or better to say threatening comments e.g what is the use of this much for markers, we have no extra money for the stationary, why don’t you care for the ink, so many pens are misused, if you are the person carrying those markers for your personal use or ooh you are only the teacher, etc. Moreover, pens and markers aren’t eatables how fast they are used and finished, it shouldn’t go in the hands of students; hope your kids aren’t using official stationery and so on.
Krishna wanted but did not leave the organization as he was so much depressed and the question of employment was bigger. It was the story where an oppressed was trying to fight for oppressed. It was a compulsion for him to get rid of daily problems and challenges related to the marker or stationary so the new way adopted was- whenever he was sent for his capacity-building he kept an eye on the markers and slightly slid into his bag for the use of his own institute. Now he was free from the listening those sentences harassing to his dignity. The so-called big institute was least careful how the mentoring of their own institute was adopting the wrong direction because of human behavior. Krishna was safe now but he had such hesitation to share markers.
Later I found that the stealing of markers was adopted by most of the employees within the institute. This was only the way they found to save their selves from scolding and abuses or bad comments. Even I too stopped asking about the markers although I was dismissed within a month because of raising and challenging certain issues and rules to improve institutions. According to the intellectuals of the learning academy “Nothing is right or wrong”. Please judge this true story from your side. I am blank?
