Spotted

 

I returned to our camp in the middle of the night; my legs cramped from sitting in the tree all day. I sat down by the campfire. 

"You were spotted by someone from the Bone tribe," I told my brother. 

"I   thought so, my leg hit a rock and I tripped out from behind my hiding place. Even though it was just for a second, I thought I saw a guard notice me," he said with disappointment in his voice. 

"Be more careful next time, and you know you don't have to do this. Mom can check out the positions of all the guards by herself. It might just take one or two days more," I told him. 

"NO. I have to… do this by myself. Let mom continue scouting the positions of the guards on the north side. I will finish my job on the south. Now tell me what you found out today," he said, his voice becoming commanding. 

"There is a fight tomorrow. Between the guard who saw you, who is apparently a real tough guy, and their leader. I think from what I heard afterward that the guard's name is Damien.  Real bad guy. He has a huge cut on his face that looks like it came from wrestling with a lion. The leader might have been scary in his day, but now he has become fat. If a change in leadership does occur, it might be bad for us. The guard seems much more aggressive than the ruler. Anyway, I guess we will find out tomorrow."
