The Patient's Heartbeat

It is not a very old story, not even a latest one; it’s a story of an imaginary place which exists in a beautiful planet called ‘Ether’. It is a planet where the beauty of Universe exists. 

The famous hospital of ‘Ether’ is ‘Soulhealer’. The director of this hospital is Dr. Abrahim Glassgow. He is a well-known cardiologist. In the year 1967, he had a dream to do a human heart transplant of a robot. He had discussed this plan with his closest friend Mr. Kim lee, who is a scientist. After so many failures Mr. Kim Lee made the world’s first robot on 15 September, 1954. Several copies were made of this and one of these was gifted by Mr. Kim to Dr. Glassgow on his birthday anniversary. Dr. Glassgow gave the name ‘Siphy’ to his robot and kept him as his assistant. 

In the hospital, the three senior nurse Annie hobs, Cathering karl, Betty Fernandez were excited to meet the new assistant robot. Mrs. Hob said, “It will be so much fun to work with a robot”. The other two nurses nodded their head by agreeing to Mrs. Hob.

The surgery specialist Dr.Marry Ma entered with Siphy. There was a emergency case, Dr. Ma asked the nurse to bring Anticoagulant medicine, Ms Carl was in hurry and brought the wrong medicine. Siphy held her hand and said, “You are carrying the Nonsteroidal anti- inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) which can worsen the condition of the patient’s heart the correct medicine in kept on the reception table.”

Nurse Karl was shocked to see that this robot has so much of knowledge related to heart and knows all the medicines which can help in healing and the ones which can worsen the health of a patient. Dr. Glassgow entered the hospital and said, “This is the speciality of my friend Kim, he has fitted the logic in such a way that Siphy knows all the diseases along with their cure.” Dr. Mathew Bezo who is also a famous cardiac surgeon said, “Wow! Sir this is a miracle, this robot can be so useful for us.”All the staff members said “Yes!” 

Dr. Glassgow started spending a lot of time with Siphy. He started loving him like his son. Siphy and Dr. Glassgow became very close to each other. Mr. Kim was noticing this all and asked Dr. Glassglow to meet him in his lab, he also requested him to not bring Siphy with him.

The moment Dr.Glassglow reached there. Mr. Kim said, “I think you are not focusing on the main goal of doing a human heart transplant of Siphy. He is just a robot; you are getting too attached with him. If you continue to do this how will you achieve the goal? You are developing a fatherly feeling for a robot. You are trying to be too over protective.” In a harsh tone Dr. Glassgow replied, “Siphy takes care of me, loves me like I am his own father. I have developed a fatherly bonding with him.”

Mr. Kim said, “A robot does not have any feeling it’s just the coding and the AI logic I have designed. It is because of which he is behaving in that way. This logic is for the people who do not have kids but want to be loved and treated like parents.” Dr. Glassgow becomes expression less, shell shocked and sad. Mr. Kim says, “Dear friend I am your well wisher. I want that you should face the reality and successfully achieve your goal.”

Dr. Glassgow with a heavy heart says, “Thank you Kim for making me understand what should be my priority. I assure you that within 10 days I, along with my staff members will make a plan and make all the things ready for Siphy’s heart transplant.”

Mr. Kim gives a friendly hug to Dr. Glassgow and moves out from his lab. Dr. Glassgow calls Dr. Mathew and asks him to bring all the staff members to the conference hall along with Siphy for an urgent meeting.

At the conference hall, Dr. Glassgow discussed the plan and appointed work for everyone, He said, “The three nurses who will be present in the operation theatre will be Annie hob, Cathering karl, Betty Fernandez, Surgery specialist Dr. Mary Ma. Anaesthesia will be given by Dr Kenny Shaw.”Everyone gets the operation theatre ready, they start preparing for the required stuff needed during heart transplant. Siphy comes to know that he will be operated by Dr. Glassgow. The logic which was created by Mr. Kim was in a way by which a human will behave when he\she’s heart transplant will be there, according to that Siphy was nervous, scared and he was hiding himself.

Dr. Glassgow came to him and said, “You don’t have to be scared, I will do your heart transplant successfully as I am a specialist. Trust me son." On hearing this, Siphy comes running to Dr. Glassgow and hugs him tightly. 

A day before operation Dr. Glassgow read an article that if there is a human logic in a robot and if we transplant a heart into it. A robot can turn into human. After reading this article Dr. Glassgow was completely confident and was ready to transplant human heart into Siphy. He got so attached to him that he wanted to make Siphy into human being. Siphy was perfect at every single skill. Dr. Glassgow will find him fortunate if Siphy becomes his son. 

Today is a big day for ‘Soulhealer’ hospital; Dr. Glassgow was eagerly waiting for this important day. The staff members are waiting for Siphy in the operation theatre. Dr. Glassgow assured Siphy that the heart transplant will be successful. After facing all the critical situations finally Siphy’s heart transplant was successful. It was a miracle which was made possible by Dr. Glassgow. Siphy changed into a human being that scene was magical.

Dr. Glassgow was happy to see his son Siphy. All the staff members and Dr. Glassgow were congratulated by many Dignitaries from Medial plethora. Article of Dr. Glassgow was published in newspaper. Dr. Glassgow continued to practice and his son also became famous. Mr. Kim was happy to see his friend so happy with his son. Dr. Glassgow thanked Mr. Kim. Like other stories they also lived happily ever after.
