PROBLEM
I watched my mother as her face went through a range of emotions. She seemed shocked and scared at the same time. "What is happening?" I asked her. She hesitated for a moment, looking out.
Suddenly, she closed the trapdoor and climbed back down. "What happened?" I repeated.
"The leader is congratulating the hunters who caught Sillas. I do not know how they did it, but I have a bad feeling that Sillas did not understand your instruction and that we also underestimated the Bone tribe. However, we must continue with the plan. Let us free everyone , give them weapons and then attack the Bone tribe. While attacking we can also free Sillas to help us. Let us move quickly while most of the tribals are distracted with Sillas," my mother said.
My mother and I ran forward, holding the weapons tightly, which prevented a frenzy of sound. Soon we took a right turn and reached another ladder, which led up to another wooden trapdoor. This time I climbed the ladder. I slowly pushed the trapdoor up trying to be silent. I seemed to be looking at an empty room filled with weapons. I slowly pushed the trapdoor back and climbed out.
The trapdoor was in a corner, next to two of the rocky walls. I helped my mother up into the room. We kept our weapons down, taking only what we needed to use. We exchanged a look and headed simultaneously to a small wooden door in the opposite corner of the room. We advanced slowly, on our toes, making sure to be silent. We reached the door. I held my spear at the ready.
My mother held two large hunting knives in her hands. We nodded to each other. I kicked open the door with all my force. It swung forward, hitting a guard on the head. While the guard was still in shock and pain at the hit from the door, I rushed him, spearing him through his heart. There was another guard standing on the opposite side of the large circular room holding a jagged sword. The room was filled with people tied up to wooden pillars. As the man rushed at me from the other side of the room, a knife flew past my ear from behind. It impaled the guard in his stomach making him instantly crumble. I looked back to see my mother's hand outstretched. She looked at me and shrugged, "It's been a long time, I'm a bit rusty."
We had finished untying everyone. All of them were people we knew. Old villagers that I thought I would never see again. My brother was knocked out and tied to a pillar in the corner. We untied him and shook him awake. We gave all the villagers weapons.
In half an hour, all the villagers were standing above the trapdoor through which we had entered. Almost thirty people, mostly men armed to the brim with daggers, swords, spears, bows and arrows, and hammers. I looked around at everyone.
"Ready?" I asked.
All of them nodded. Surprisingly, none of them seemed scared. They seemed ready to destroy the Bone tribe, which was exactly what we were going to do.
