The Conviction………..

Sharath and Aparna are very happy couple being blessed with a son Abhay after their long 7 years of marriage. Sharath is a reputed doctor in the town and Aparna is a professor. Both were now very proud parents. They took care of their son Abhay and given him the best education from his childhood. Abhay started growing with lots of love and affections from his parents and relatives. He was very intelligent and jolly minded boy. Whatever he demands, it used to be given to him by his parents. Abhay passed 12th with the best score and been declared as the topper of the town. His parents had given him the freedom to choose his own carrier

. Both Sharath and Aparna had never forced him for anything. Abhay was also a very good football player. After the 12th results his parents, who are always very friendly with him had asked him about his next plan for education. Abhay told them that he wants to be an engineer. He gave entrance examination and got selected for admission in I I T Kharagpur. His parents got him admitted there and left him in the campus to stay in the hostel. Aparna was in tears while leaving her son Abhay in the hostel, as for the first time since his birth Abhay is going to stay away from them. She was telling her son in a demanding voice with tears to call her and take his own care. Abhay hugged his mother and consoled her saying,’’ Mom, now I am 18, bit little grown up child. Don’t ever have tears in your eyes. You know that I can’t see it. Now give me a smile and be comfortable.’’ Then Aparna gave a smile and again reminded Abhay to call her every day. Both Sharath and Aparna left the place. Abhay used to call his mother in night and keep her informed about the day’s happening. Abhay was good in his study. He had completed his three years very successfully

He was also selected for the college football team. In his final year he was serious about his study and as well as his football. This year as a part of the college team he will be participating in inter college competition. He was very excited for this. Their college had done well in the competition and won it. Abhay was the player of the tournament as he had scored the maximum number of goals in the tournament. After winning the tournament entire team celebrated in a big way. Abhay called his mother and told her everything. She had also informed her that they will stay there for another two days and then will return. Aparna was very happy to know about her son’s achievement. Next day Abhay and his teammates made visit around the city and came to know about lots of things. Also they came to know about the sea beach.

All of them planned to go to sea beach next day in the morning and will enjoy as on the same day night they have to leave the place. Abhay talked to his mother for a longer time that night and had the sleep. He had not told her about their next day’s plan. All of them as planned had gone to sea shore and some of them started going inside the sea and taking their bath. Some were swimming too. Abhay was a good swimmer and started swimming in the sea and was enjoying. After a long time of two hours all had finished and returned to the shore. But Abhay had not returned. They called loudly Abhay thinking that may be he had gone bit far away from them. Still Abhay had not returned. They searched for Abhay. T

he captain of the team had informed the coach and he had come with the swimmers and fire brigade team. All were in search of Abhay. Even after the search for more than four hours till evening there was no trace of Abhay. All of them were in panic and shock. The police had registered the case. The coach had informed Sharath about missing of Abhay. Sharath and Aparna immediately started by their own car. Aparna was asking Sharath what happened to her Abhay. Bur Sharath was telling only .’’let us go there and understand. I was informed that Abhay was missing. You have the patience. Nothing will happen to our Abhay.’’ They reached in the early morning and discussed with the coach and went to the police station. There the police officer told them that today again the search team will go by helicopter and boat to search him. Listening to all these Aparna fainted there. Sharath tried with all his ability and had Aparna back to her sense. Then Aparna insisted Sharath to go to that sea shore. Sharath took her there. They saw the search team also reached there and started their search operation. Aparna was crying and calling her son very loudly.

She was standing in shore and saw the waves of sea touched her feet again and again. She had for gotten everything at that moment. Aparna shouted with tears in her eyes at sea and started saying.’’ I know you had kidnaped my son. I know you had played a big game with me. All used to say you always return anything thrown at you, but then why you are not returning my Abhay to me. I am sure that you have done the crime and that’s the reason that you are touching my feet and praying to forgive you. But I will never forgive you. It is my Conviction that you had kidnapped my son. Just tell me what you want from me? I will give you, but return my son.’’ Sharath was listening to her.

He tried to control her. She had almost lost her mental balance. Sharath could see that Aparna is in a mood of taking revenge on sea. Till tat day afternoon the search operation continued, but nobody could trace Abhay. Sharath with all the pains and teary eyes took Aparna and returned to the car. While sitting in the car Aparna looked at the sea from the window and shouted,’’ I am sure…. It is The Conviction of mine that you had kidnapped my son. You are a criminal….’’ She started crying and again fainted. Sharath asked the driver to take near a hospital. Sharath was going back from that place with Aparna with The Conviction of losing his only son Abhay…..
