Riverside

Those were summer days, very uncomfortable. All the family members planned to go for a picnic in the morning hours, the day was very hot.

It was planned, coming Sunday, picnic on the riverside, Tawi river (Jammu, J&K). Time decided from 6 am to 8 am, in the summers after 8 am the sun becomes very hot.

All family members, reached around 6.00 am on the riverside. The weather was awesome, the water so cool and temping. Had a bath and swimming. One more family was there. We exchanged greetings and introduced each other. That day we enjoyed ourselves a lot. So it was decided that every Sunday we will come here.

Arora family was very nice and humble people. Soon we became good friends. Those Sunday picnics, lasted for more than two months until the rainy season started, the weather also became a bit comfortable.

Once our family got an invitation to one of our relative's retirement party. The hall was full of people. Just then, my cousin saw Mr Arora, he started talking with him.

I and my husband also participated. Bhayya, (my cousin) asked his wife,

“Dear, didn't you recognize Mr Arora?”

“Sorry, I'm trying, but.”

“This is Mr Arora."

With a blank face, Bhabhi Ji said,

“Mr Arora, sorry still I'm not able to place him."

"Dear, remember, every Sunday we had picnics together on the riverside.”

Bhabhi Ji very innocently said,

“Ooh yes, now I see, actually I have never seen him in clothes."

The moment Bhabhi Ji said those words, suddenly a pin drop silence engulfed the room and after a moment the whole room exploded with laughter.

Seeing everyone's face all around, she realized the real meaning of her sentence. Later on, she tried to justify it, but nobody was in a position to listen because of irresistible laughter.

Actually, we have seen Mr Arora mostly in a swimming costume or can say in shorts. This was the first time we saw him in formal dress.

This incident is now almost 4.5 years old but still, sometimes Bhayya teased Bhabhi Ji with the name of, Mr Arora.

Sometimes a slip of the tongue changes the whole meaning of the sentence.
