‘Bouma where are you?’ it took time in the Puja room Maa. I am coming. ‘I have told your father that you will be staying with your parents for a couple of days so take some good sarees.

Aadya accordingly packed her small suitcase as tomorrow being Saturday, her husband, Banshi will drop her at her parent's house. Bani Devi called her daughter-in-law, ‘ Come Bouma sit beside me. You will be going to visit your parents and your siblings. Your younger sisters will ask you to show them movies. Do you have money with you?’

Aadya held her raised saree tightly covering her head and nodded slightly to ‘No’. Bani Devi was a strict disciplinarian, and her word was the law. But if her children did wrong, she never spared them too.

When Banshi came home late in the evening and was having dinner, Bani Devi called her daughter-in-law and told her to take out money from her son’s pocket. The girl's eyes were swimming in tears and stood still. ‘Maa, I cannot do this’. I am not a thief.

Bani Devi stuck to her point, ‘Bouma, your husband’s money belongs to you. When he doesn’t give you, you take it out and do it in front of him. This is your right.’ Meanwhile, Banshi had finished his dinner and he came out and saw what was happening. He smiled at Aadya, ‘Maa is correct. How can you go to your parent’s house without money? Don’t deprive yourself of your ’Rights’. I was wrong.

PS: first learn to respect yourself.

In those days movie tickets cost a little more than Rs 2 and that too in the upper class.
