Branch 3 : Alternate world Answered Question 1:

There was something in Charu that had attracted Abhay instantly. He was not a great lover but there was some sort of madness in his love. Charu was making him insane with her enigmatic pull and Abhay wished he could suspend this world temporarily when their eyes met, as he saw Charu walking towards him.

For Yuvaan, it was like he had seen a goblin. He yelled out loud and to his surprise found Abhay unaffected with his yell.

“Abhay, let’s move,” said Yuvaan’s petrified voice. But Abhay stood still, his eyes fixed on hers. Charu pulsated when she saw Abhay and innately ambled towards him, her eyes seemed intoxicated by his penetrating gaze. There was a lava erupting inside Charu’s heart and Abhay was the only man who could calm her tumultuous emotions. An unannounced feeling made Charu hold Abhay’s hand and she dragged him away from Yuvaan and for Yuvaan the idea of other worldly creature making acquaintance with human became inconceivable. He escaped the situation in a state of fright. The lovers hurried down the street and settled themselves behind a rock of Fort Kochi’s beach. They wanted to get vocal about their feelings but they couldn’t. Surprisingly, Abhay squeezed Charu’s shoulders and placed a soft kiss on her cheeks and without wasting a single moment they kissed each other. It was a long awaited warm kiss and for the lovers, time stagnated at that moment.

However, little by little, Charu heard a delicate voice.

It was Goddess Athena saying, “Stop Charu. Stop this. Go no further,” the voice being feeble the control it had on Charu’s mind was intransigent. Charu could sense governing power in Goddess Athena’s voice. Charu collapsed, the scintilla of attraction slowing went in lassitude. Their romantic tryst was shattered as now Charu became aware of what she had done. Longing for solitude, Charu requested Abhay to go home and Abhay followed her command with a promise to meet again.

“Yes,” said Charu in a lamentable tone and sat on a stony rock.

“You were on the verge of crossing the absolute limit. Don’t make the mistake which Sheryl did. You will lose your powers if you go beyond this emotional level”, Goddess Athena’s voice resonated inside Charu’s mind.

“Emotional level, Goddess Athena? How can emotions be quantified on levels. Is our heart only ruled by physics? Goddess Athena, love isn’t a formula, it’s a free energy and I feel a strong attraction for Abhay. I love him and feel we are one soul inhabited in two bodies. I know, I am rightly to be inhabited in Planet Antrina, as being a zygote, but, but, Goddess Athena, I want to live on Earth, with Abhay. Please let me be on earth, help me Goddess Athena. Isn’t there a way out to end my turmoil?” said Charu.

“No. If you feel trapped between duty and love, duty should come first, and, it’s your duty to save Planet Antrina”, Goddess Athena gave Charu a glassy stare.

“I can’t live without him. Better you kill me,” Charu stooped her shoulders while tears brimmed over her dull eyes.

“Charu, you are half human and half zygote. Sheryl did the same mistake and got married on earth, and now you are following her footsteps. If you love Abhay then you will lose powers to transmit emotions to zygotes, who being the rightful race of Planet Antrina. The eclipse is nearing, if you lose this chance, Planet Antrina will be destroyed forever. Do you want to be the culprit? Do you wish to see Planet Antrina destroyed?” Every syllable of Goddess Athena was persuading Charu to give precedence for her duty, and somehow Charu knew she had no option but to obey the orders of the Goddess. She was controlling her the day she birthed on earth and Charu was tired of Goddess Athena’s dominance over her.

“Do you wish to see Planet Antrina?” asked Goddess Athena and broke her vexed thought.

“Yes,” said Charu immediately. She desired to visualize her root, her actuality. Goddess Athena touched Charu’s forehead and glimpses of Planet Antrina started revolving around Charu.

Planet Antrina was set on a different trajectory, which superseded the technological systems used on earth. They lived on amplified human intelligence and for Charu, they looked like human-computers.

“So I am one of them,” Charu moaned. She looked around the planet and found everything perfect in there. Mermitans were categorized as the doers and zygotes as the input presenters. The input arrayed by zygotes were as per the orders of Goddess Athena, she was the supreme power of the Planet. Every stellar worked as per the instructions of the Goddess. Habitants were attired in same clothes, they rode the same vehicle, took pills as food and they believed in the theory of sameness. The community was neutral and everything was customized according to the predetermined instructions.

“They are ruling so perfectly. Why do they want emotions in there? If they are super ahead in technology then they can turn the eclipse, isn’t it?” Charu expressed her thoughts.

“No Charu, they can’t without emotions. They need to come together as a team and destroy the eclipse, they require togetherness, not sameness, and for that they require emotions. Only emotions can join them together. Once they get together, I can help them, and with my instructions they will succeed in destroying the eclipse. You see Charu, every atom of this infinite universe run on predetermined destinies, which no one can change. If the supreme power had codified that you will be their rescuer, you have to do your job. If you try to change the predetermined instructions of universe, it will be distressing. You can’t challenge the supreme power. Now, listen this very carefully. The eclipse is tomorrow. I will set a plan. You will tell to your acquaintances on earth that you are travelling back to New York. Give whatever reasons, I don’t care. You will book the New York flight no. 6337, and once the flight goes half way, it will disappear mid-air. It will go off its radar, and for earthly inhabitants it will remain an unsolved mystery about where the plane vanished, which they will ponder upon for years to come. You will be teleported to Planet Antrina where I will give you the sword and you will fulfill your duty of transferring emotions. You will not utter a single word to Abhay, as for him you will always be an enigmatic Charu”, and this is how Goddess Athena ended her soliloquy.

“O please Goddess Athena, don’t be rude to me,” said Charu, but Goddess Athena had vanished from her memory. Completely shaken by the monologue, Charu sat in stupor for some time. She was still on the rocks, alone, as she observed the sea in complete perplexity. Fort Kochi had welcomed her and warmed her heart beyond imagination and now it was time to go.

‘My heart is broken and a part of it will always linger on this planet’, she said as she watched the day settling down. It was undoubtedly the last day of hers on planet earth. Morrow she would be on some other dwelling.

Next morning, Charu looked skywards and observed the aurora displaying the spectrum of lights in the sky. It was that ring of energy which she was going to cross within few hours. Mani Oomen entered Charu’s room to bid her an adieu.

“What’s that urgent work which is separating my daughter from me?” questioned Mr. Oomen. Being a parent to Charu was the most cherished attachment for Mani Oomen, biological or adoptive, well it didn’t matter for him at all.

“Sorry Appa, I have to go”, said Charu feeling dreadful of this melancholy end.

“Quickly complete your New York work and come to me again, my Charu”, said Oomen.

“Yes Appa”, she said and hugged him tightly. Exactly how Charu was going to miss such beautiful expressions was inestimable for her.

‘It will be impossible to go, if I waste a minute more,’ thought Charu and promptly collected her bags and rushed out of Oomen Villa.

Fort Kochi airport had its usual chaos. Charu saw the counter for flight no. 6337 and hurried to get the boarding pass and she jerked as she saw Abhay standing in the queue. His stance was stiff but his eyes were moving rapidly as if he was searching Charu.

Yuvaan had discreetly informed him of Charu’s actuality which Abhay didn’t reckoned. He had shrugged off Yuvaan stating that he was unhappy with his weird conjecture. To validate the so called ‘conjecture’, Yuvaan had handed the DNA report of Charu, which clearly stated her extra-terrestrial existence. The report made Abhay run towards Oomen Villa where he was informed about Charu’s sudden departure to New York and Abhay then hurried towards the airport.

‘How in this world did he come to know?’ Charu said and tried to conceal her existence.

‘No’, cried Charu.

‘Abhay will die if he boards this flight. I have to stop him boarding the flight’, she muttered softly.
