Dear diary,

William Wordsworth used the expression, "The child is the father of the man" in his famous 1802 poem, "My Heart Leaps Up," also known as "The Rainbow." If we observe a child, he/ she is carefree, always enthusiastic and full of questions. Children are keen learners and learn pretty much anything that is taught to them or sometimes they learn by mere observation. They are not afraid to fail and they do not have any ego to pull them away from trying. Young children can teach the elders so many important values like patience, perseverance, being joyful, etc.

My neighbor's child Ritu comes home every day. I have seen her from her crawling stage to now when she runs down the stairs. One interesting lesson that stuck

to me is when she was learning to climb down the stairs. She would be so careful. She would hold the railing so tight and keep each step with caution. She was so sure of herself and was not afraid.

Each step she carefully climbed down she would rejoice as if she had won an award. This motivated her to try climbing one more step down the next day.

I learned that day that life is actually simple. As we grow older, we tend to complicate it. Ritu taught me that all I need to do is be alert, be cautious and be enthusiastic. She taught me to keep pushing myself no matter what, get out of my comfort zone and keep trying.

Also, when I succeed in a task to appreciate myself and rejoice.

Life is simple, isn't it?
