Panther

Panther 

I finally reached the island in the middle of the lake. I crawled onto the muddy shore and looked up to find flowers stretching across the whole area of the island. I didn't waste time. I gently picked some flowers that were in full bloom. I turned around quickly to leave the island. 

On the other shore in front of me stood a sleek, black beast that resembled a lion without a mane. I had heard of these animals from folk tales. They were called panthers. They were quick witted as foxes, ferocious as lions, and fast as tigers. The panther stared at me with its big yellow eyes. Its eyes bore deep into my soul. Somehow this sleek black animal made me more scared than huge lions with beautiful yellow manes and claws as big as bananas.

I stood frozen in fear staring at the beautiful yet scary beast in the eye across the lake. How would I get out of this island alive?
