Mystery
When the sun was high in the sky, I finally stopped, unable to move anymore. I was walking up the third mountain by then. This one was rocky and sandy like the deserts in our shamans' stories. I lay down closing my eyes, feeling the light of the sun burning my eyes through my eyelids. I felt the heat on my body. I fell asleep.
When I woke up, the sun was low in the sky. I grunted, angry with myself. I shouldn't have slept. Now I'll have to walk through the night again.
I kept walking until there was light in the sky again. There was an island in the middle of a huge lake in front of me. I was too tired to swim, but I was still afraid to rest in the forest.
