There was a friend of mine of junior college who belonged to the south Indian cultivator family from Tamilnadu. His father might have come for a job in the state of Maharashtra. He was working in the textile mill in my native town. They were three brothers in the family. My friend had an elder as well as a younger brother. Being friends, we friends used to go to his home frequently. His elder brother was get employed in a nationalized bank. His younger brother was studying in primary school. Nature had gifted him everything except one eye instead of pair of eyes as usual. This was the shorting coming in his younger brother, but he seemed to be very active, efficient and capable from his infancy. His academic, as well as extra curriculum performances, remained fairly good. We were inclined to him because of natural short-coming in him. Whenever we went to him, we used to talk with his younger brother with sympathy. On many occasions, he discussed with us various topics. We were proud of his alertness, justification and way of tackling the subject. I was too big to him like his elder brothers, hence I could not see his all career completely.

My friend and I had chosen the different colleges for doing graduation and post-graduation in science in different cities which were opposite in direction and far from our native place. Meeting with him frequently as in the past was a tough exercise for both. Absences make the heart grow fonder. Whenever there was a long college vacation, we generally used to make auto attempts to exchange our thoughts and pending talk in such meetings. On a few occasions, I went to his college. He also came to my college. I was joined at the hip of him, but after post-graduation, I joined the government job because of prevailing financial crises. But he did his graduation in education, then he also got the job of junior lecturer in a nearby town. Both of us were in the same boat. Both of us had no spare time to meet with each other as in the past. During those days, there was no mobile like today to be in touch. The only way of meeting with each other was either direct face to face or in touch by letter, which was not the piece of cake due to hectic daily activities. We used to meet once in a blue moon. After a few years, I had been transferred to another state. My parent then decided about my marriage of mine. I also thought that it was the right time to get married. The parent’s decision was as right as rain. So, I went to my friend’s home to invite all of them for the marriage. It was the last opportunity for me to meet with his younger brother. He was just stepped into tenth class. I also asked him to come into my marriage with all. He agreed to my invitation, but only my friend attended the wedding ceremony. I was happy with my family. He then got a job in senior college as a professor in the city. Out of sight, out of mind. As time passed the communication between us was automatically ceased.

Since my friend’s family was from Tamilnadu. His parent went back to Chennai after retirement. His mother’s health was getting deteriorating day by day. He, therefore, decided to go back to Tamilnadu, where he joined as a postgraduate teacher scarifying the handsome salary and profession of a senior professor. He did not make hay while the sun was shining. When going gets tough, tough get going. He sacrificed the chance to serve his mother in her troubled time. During that period entire family was in their own state.

I came to know all these facts from my other friend. Fortunately, I had got an opportunity to go to Chennai in a departmental familiarization project with a pilot in his cockpit for verification of aviation data. I talked with him over the phone about my visit. He was very happy with this news. He told me that I should stay at his home only. I agreed to his request from the bottom of my heart, as I saw it eye to eye.

I went to Chennai to meet him. I met with his wife and son after twenty years. He arranged a city view for me with his family. We enjoyed the city tour. While talking about the rest of the family members, he told me that his parent passed away a few years ago. His elder brother was in the same bank in the city, but his younger brother was in California in America. I was really taken back to know about his younger brother. He told me that he did his graduation in computer science. Through campus selection, he joined a multinational American company in India. The boss of that company was extremely impressed by his skilled work, approach to tackle the situation, facing the hurdle in computing programming from time to time as right as rain. Since he was a very bright brilliant chap and had an apple for his eye, He offered him a fat cat post in California. One shouldn’t miss the forest for the trees, hence he went there. He got married to an American female citizen. Both were in the same company in commanding position. He also got American citizenship. He would not come back to India at all. Last year my friend went to California. He stayed there for 45 days. His younger brother arranged all picnic places as well as important cities for his family. When he had spare time, he used to take his brother’s family for outings in his own car. He drives the car at speed. His friends told his elder brother that among their friend circle, he was only skilled the driver. All of them always request him only to drive the car while outing. We had sympathy In his childhood because he was a one-eyed boy. But he proved that he was more superior than a man with coupled eyes. He disproved the misconception that the blind one-eyed man is king. He was king within two-eyed normal man. It was a shocking experience for me, but, No doubt it was a real miracle for me !.
