There was a boy whose name was Manoj in middle -class family in small town. He was the youngest in the family. There was girl in a middle-class family whose father was worker in cotton mill. She was also youngest in the family. They would live in the same sub-town at a stone’s throw. The way to their school was common. Both would go to gather many times on foot. They would talk with each other as they were in the same class. There was a family relation between their families. So, she would often come to his home either alone or with her mother. There was very close friendship between them. When both of them passed the primary school examination. Manoj went to boys’ school and Meena went to girls’ school. So, they were segregated from each other. Furthermore, they had separate root and different school timing of their schools. So, they couldn’t meet with each other just like in the past. out of sight, out of mind. Both of them passed the tenth school board examination. So, again they met with each other for passing twelfth board examination. There was fresh renewal of their old friendship. But they were matured and bothered about their career. Though they had affection with each other, but they paid more attention on their study as watch the doughnut not the hole. It was a Turning point at the crossroad. They knew that harder they work, luckier they get. They passed their twelfth board examination with flying colors. But they couldn’t get the admission either in engineering or in medical as there was dog eat dog competition. They were cold feet. Meena went to big city for doing graduation in science and Manoj did his graduation in the district level college. He would come to college for attending the classes by train daily. He was already very upset as he couldn’t do engineering. He always thought that he had lost his dream. So, he would remain very silent, serious in the college. He wouldn’t speak much with his either girlfriend or boyfriend. There was girl in his class who was his practical partner. They had some close contact with each other during practical periods. She had first sight love with him. But he wasn’t responding equally to her. She was in some dilemma about her selection. Both of them passed the final examination of degree. They were science graduate with flying color. Manoj decided to complete his post-graduation in science in the new city. But his father was asking him to make effort for getting job at earliest. His father was retired from the bank. He didn’t get pension. He had exhausted his capital in marriages of daughters and sons. Anyhow Manoj ‘s elder brothers promised him to provide financial aid for his post-graduation. But his father cautioned him to became self-reliance at the earliest as his bother wouldn’t help him for longer time.
Anyhow he took admission in post- graduation. His college girlfriend Maya also took admission in the same college in the same faculty. When she saw him. She was very pleased, hopeful and happy with his existence in the institute. Though the course of true love never did run smooth, but where there is will, there is way. But Manoj was always in tension due to his family problems. Neither he was paying his full attention in study nor in Maya. He would remain always disturb. Coincidently, his primary school girlfriend was also doing her post-graduation in the same institute in another faculty. She would always talk with Manoj. He introduced Mina with Maya. Soon they had a friendship with each other. Both of them had love with Manoj. But Manoj wasn’t responding to none of them. He was worried about his career. Manoj was engaged in doing the preparation of competitive examinations. He wouldn’t pay any attention to them. Though they loved with him, but none of them never shared their feelings with Manoj. They were very busy in their practical projects in the final year of examination. They appeared for final examination. There was long gap between them after examination.
There were no communication means like mobile in those days. Fortunately, Manoj got government job in another state. He joined the job. He was totally segregated from both of them. hey had chosen their own path for their life. They separated from each other for ever.
